Do you think this gun is legal in California or does it look to much like a pistol grip?

Thumbhole stock is an evil feature. Treated same as a pistol grip.

ILLEGAL unless the gun has a bullet button on it.

So, to be clear, as the poster is newer, it is legal if it had a bullet button and a 10 round magazine, or a 20 or 30 round magazine converted to only hold no more than 10 rounds?

Yes, unless banned by name.

It is legal if properly registered

And by this, he means registered before the "assault weapon ban" took effect (as normal people aren't going to receive an AW permit today).
If you put a magazine lock on it (which the "bullet button" is a type of), then you can have the thumbhole stock or pistol grip.

Long guns other than RAWs and NFA items aren't registered.

Is it just me or is there no real dust cover on that thing?

Good catch! The safety which is in the fire position functions as a dust cover when set on safe, which is up from where it is set now, if coursr

ILLEGAL unless the gun has a bullet button on it.

If that rifle isn't on the "ban" list, then that thumbhole could be filled with Kydex and the rifle is legal AND featureless as well.

What about the number of parts required to be made in the USA? Isn't that also a concern?

SWISS - That is a Federal issue. And, if is already being sold in Free America then those issues have already been addressed.

The OP doesn't say where or how this is being sold. What if it's a PPT?

If you fill the thumb hole, you can avoid the bullet button.

That still doesn't matter. It had to get into the country at sometime. When it was brought in it had to meet 922R regs unless it was brought in before the regs. If it was brought in before the regs then you don't have to worry about 922R unless you are modifying it from it's original configuration.
