Get a Trijicon RMR IMO the aimpoint micro series however small are too big for a handgun.

Did you notice those little lumps of metal on top of the slide? Those are sights! Perhaps you could learn to use them since they did come free with the rest of the gun...

I don't know how great a RDS would be for a pistol where the upper moves during the blow-back process of firing a round.
The Aimpoints are wonderful sights though. And as fond as some folks are of their metal sights, an Aimpoint RDS will generally roundly trounce metal sights.

It's your gun do what you want with it, jmo. Do you have rails on your 226?
People mount 30mm aimpoint tubes on 1911/2011 style guns quite a bit so mounting an H1 isn't going to be an issue other than finding the right bracket/mount for it..
Try looking at what's available for the P226 X series.. Those might yield better hits in terms of accessories..
Do take into consideration that the vertical offset is somewhat awkward if you're not expecting it..

There's a bracket that mounts on the tactical light rail. It then wraps around the dust cover/accessory rail and slide and then sits with a picatinny rail for sights if you want (also a rail for the light again below the mount. Sig sells them, they aren't very popular and for a while they were on sale during the holidays for cheap with Sig's crappy RDS too. Let me look for it.
If I recall it's pricey... 240 MSRP with the RDS, it was like 180 on sale if I remember right.
Guy above me has the ad for the sale. But it includes the flashlight which I don't remember, it might have been a different sale. Don't buy for the flashlight or the RDS, both are supposed to be fairly crappy.
