Took my wife shooting recently and she used a friends Ruger 10/22.

Told me "See, I would go more often if you had something I could shoot without knocking my shoulder off"

I don't want to discourage this behavior in the slightest. Anyone know where the best prices for a 10/22 are?

If you search "Rifles in Walmart" there is a 10/22 going for $200 something. Only a few selected Walmart sell rifle so you may want to call. Also, I know BPS (Bass Pro Shop) is around $250 or so.

That's a very nice rifle. Not my wife's style, but very nice indeed.

10/22 go on sale often. In Southern Cal, Turners Outdoorsman and Big 5 will give you a good deal.

Hard to find them for under 200 recently, must have had a price increase. Turners has them for 209 on sale this week in there ad. That's a good price, havent seen Bass Pro or Big 5 that cheap.

I have done well with 10/22 at gunshows, usually can find a used older one for around $165 to $190. I always go for the older walnut stocked ones. But i live in the Northeast, its been a while since i went to a Ca. show.
