Hat guys just wanting to get some points of view and basic info.I am thinking of getting a Izhmash rifle, either 5.45 or .223,and a sks.I would like durability, accuracy, ect. I know some about sks' but very little about the Izhmash.

Izzy has made a lot of rifles. Im guessing u are referring to the saiga line? These are just AK pattern rifles in a sporting configuration. Sks is fine, but I would take an AK over one anyday

it is easier to load an sks. ak's are fun but loading ammo into magazines is a pain imo. saigas are great and if you convert it you'll have a brand new russian ak.

If you want accuracy 545x39 is my choice 100%.

Thanks guys but I have another question I have heard that the 5.45 izhmash can use standard ak74 mags,is this true? And I would like to know also can the .223 version use standard .223 ak mags?

No saiga's cannot use normal mags, until a bullet guide is installed.

for the saiga rifles you need to convert them to ak platform. for example with the 545 and 762 you need to add a bullet guide- so it can take ak mags, and move the guts forward to make room for the pistol grip if you want the pistol grip.

for the 223 i believe it will take .223 ak mags but you'll need to install a bullet guide and you can add an AR adaptor to take AR mags. hopefully someone else can chime in and correct me if i am wrong on this part.

Actually the 5.45 models seem to work without a bullet guide. Some attribute this to the shape of the bullet itself. Might be an issue for rapid fire or full auto, but I have heard of plenty of models (and used as well) that worked fine without them. YMMV

Yup, original AK-74 mags will fit and function in the 5.45 Saiga rifles. In addition TAPCO is now selling 10 round US made AK-74 mags which also fit and function in both the Saiga as well as kit built AK-74 types.

Okay would a bullet guide improve function because I checked 'em out and their pretty cheap.I also have a off topic question does anyone know if they made a warsaw length wood ak stock?
