Well after two painfully long drives, getting lost twice and a ticket from our wonderful CHP... I have my HK45 and Tracy Rifle and Pistol made it worth it by making the process quick and painless.

I had called to inquire about the SSE process and the HK45, Mike informed me that they did the SSE for the HK45 and that they could have one in a couple days if I wanted one. I let him know I would have to see when I could get up there and I would call them back. When I called back Mike again answered and I let him know when I would be driving up and he told me he had already ordered one just in case!

Just letting everyone know what a great place Tracy Rifle and Pistol is to do business with, tho I'm sure most of you knew that already.

Thanks for the info! I fell in love with the HK45 when I first came across it. If I ever have the cash I will head over there!

TRAP is awesome, I just picked up my HK P30 from there last weekend. Great group and very knowledgeable!

I wish HK sold a steel trigger I'm having issues firing to my potential with mine I think its that the trigger flexes or something. Here's a picture since it was taken I installed the LEM light with a heavy trigger return spring and I really need new sights. I'm just not 100% sure I'm going to be keeping it yet unless I can learn to shoot this thing as good as a Glock, Sig, or 1911.

The guys at Tracy Rifle & Pistol are GREAT - two SSE and a VERY satisfied customer.

No surprises, no hassles, was actually "fun" doing business with them

Keep up the Great shop Mike....

Don't get discouraged! I just shot my P30 9mm (std LEM) for the first time the other day. Only put 180 rounds through it. After 150 rounds I was still shooting wild so I played around with my grip and boom: the gun started shooting for me. My last 3 magazines were nice single hole 10 shot groups at 21ft. Not as tight as I can get with a 1911 but promising....I'm already shooting it better than a Glock (I love Glocks but the ergo's just don't work very well for me).I can't wait to see how I do this weekend!

I DO totally recognize that some guns just don't work for everyone though and if this is "one of those" for you then at least you'll not have any trouble selling it!

Another thumbs up for Mike at Tracy R&P. I had a concern with some mags and he dealt with my issue in a quick and customer friendly manner.

Mike at TRAP is awesome although my wallet hates him. I bought a new Colt in 38 super from him through the SSE and the whole process was simple. I drove two hours each way myself for it but it was worth it.

My buddy in the Corps has one, you will enjoy it :) He wishes he had it instead of those pea shooter 92 9mm's they STILL use...seriously how much sidearm ammo do you need to carry...oh wait, its cheaper

Try putting more "meat" on the trigger. It's a combat sidearm, not a target plinker.

I love my HK45 but I couldn't love on those sights.
I just sent the slide assy off to get Heinie straight eight night sights installed.

What should one expect to pay for a HK45 SSE'd?

The HK45 is a truly awesome pistol. I just could not get past the grip angle. I had to really turn my wrists up to see the front sight when holding it naturally.

Ya know, when I picked up my HK P30S 9mm (DA/SA) I would read about how bad the trigger was from several sources on the internet---I took it out to the range and I must say, it ain't so bad---I had zero problems and it grouped just fine. I let a couple of my pals shoot the pistol and they recorded no complaints either (we're all very experienced shooters). I think what throws many folks off is the fact that it's a two-stage trigger (SA)---that is there is a bit of "take-up" before the final stage of release. I have shot LEM guns (P2000 9mm) and their trigger didn't bother me either---just different.

Mike and TRAP are as good as it gets. Friendly, knowledgeable, and super fast at everything they do, from special orders to PPT. Mike stocks great stuff too. Colts, DD, HK, FN Scars, Les Baers, etc. Nice HK btw! Congrats.

Thank you to lite x for creating this thread. I pinged Mike on email several times regarding a P30 .40 and he responded promptly. Ended up driving from San Jose to purchase by P30, and picked it up a few weeks ago and I can't go too long without fondling it...B-U-T-FUL. It was quick and easy, and the guys are friendly. I wouldn't mind driving up to Tracy again. The shop is located in a new shopping center at Naglee Rd, and there are tons of shops and restaurants in the area.

Best price in Northern CA, highly recommend. They also had an ACR and SCAR on the wall.

Wow, just sent Mike an email at 0756 and received a reply 4 minutes later! Now that's good communication and they have the handgun that I want in stock! :) The drive will be about an hour and 15 mins one way but seems worth it.

What are the major attributes for the HK 45 that trump other 1911 models? The cost is similar to quality 1911 versions. I have admired HK's for a long time. Just never could reach that high to the price point.

I would argue that the price is in line with lower end/commercial level 1911's.

The main thing would be that it is a much updated system. Polymer frame, single/double action (somewhat configurable as well). Higher mag capacity, configurable grips, 1913 rail, ect ect
