Hey CalGunners!

Just went to the range this weekend and shot 250 rounds. I have had this gun for a year but every time I take it out I love it more and more. 250 rounds and not one single issue. My buddy had a couple FTF's with his glock, but we think it was the cheap ammo. When he examined it, and reloaded it it shot just fine.

I love the Mil Spec model. It's more accurate than I am out past 10 yards and the recoil is fairly soft. Sure, it doesn't have the beavertail, ambi-safety, night sights, or competition trigger, but I don't think it needs all that. The only thing I did was get some CMC pro mags for it. The combat sights work great and the rail let's me keep a TLR-1 on it.

Here is one of my targets (10 shots at 10 yards) which is a pretty average group that day.

And here is my baby. (Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics)

Thanks! Yeah I like the rail. I like the look basic (non-rail) look too. But I got a deal on this one and since they don't make it anymore I had to jump on it. And this gun with a light isn't a bad HD piece either :)

Oh absolutely. I still have to get a 1911. I think actually its more useful to have more rail than too little depending on what light your putting on. I bet it helps in terms of weight vs recoil as well. I seriously want the same 1911 just with a command style hammer. Damn I'll never find one :/.

Keep on the look out and you can! Or if you are willing to spend some more money, you can get that TRP full rail. I hear it's pretty sweet!

What was your price on yours? I keep leaning toward a Colt (in my experience, it dont get much better than them, but I have thought about SA for a long time now). I dont mind having a rail, prefer it without but if it has it, its only a plus, if you can mount a light on the thing its just become a viable HD option. I dont like all the goodies, just a commander hammer and standard trigger (no vents or whatever they call it).

Hows the reset on the trigger?

I got mine for $650 used with (supposedly) 200 rounds through it. Which is, I think, about what it went for new minus taxes and fees back in 2003-2004 when it was made. However it was in pristine condition so I bit. Had some jams at first but it was due to under-lubrication and a bad mag. Since then, its been flawless. The trigger reset is awesome (as it is with most 1911's) and the trigger in general is nice and crisp.

Throw on a beavertail and a ring hammer, and that gun would be just about perfect.

Nice piece.

I have actually thought about that, but part of me wants to keep it stock and just get another 1911 :p But I guess I could find a parkerized beavertail and skeletonized hammer to match and switch it back if I ever sell it. I don't get hammer bite so I am not worried about it too much. Shoots great just the way it is :cool2:
