I thought this was on the roster but going through Para's section on it, I can't find it anywhere. Anybody else want to confirm with me that its not there.

GoG (I think they are pretty accurate on our list) on model PRCX745SKJ (PXT 1911 LTC Tactical):
"We're sorry, there are certain restrictions in your area that may prevent you from purchasing this item. Please contact the retailer for details."

So, I would say, it is not on list.

While I like the Sig 1911's, I really wanted to get a Para sometime just to compare it to others out there. If I hate it, I can always sell it for a bit of a loss and I'm not out much. For some reason, I really like that particular gun and the way the serrations are, 35lpi front strap, ambi safety, rail, and a handful of nice goodies.

Get rid of those front serrations and put some Colt medallion stocks on that and it would be one fine pistol.

I already have a really nice custom colt. I want a Para. That, and the XSE doesn't have a rail, bo-mar style sights, ambi-safety, the kind of serrations that the para has, flared magwell, 4.25" barrel, fiber optic front sight, flared magwell.....

Well you get the picture. I have a nice Dan Wesson PM7, a 1943 Ithaca GI, and a Custom Colt, but that para just speaks to me for some reason even if you don't like a Para.

Word of warning on Para. Recently, their quality control has been crap. Their pistols have been very hit or miss. I've read lots of complaints over on 1911forum.com. This is probably due to the recent relocation move. I have a 2005 Para SSP that has been flawless from the get go. Shoots every time, and hits right where you point it. I also have an older P14 that runs great as well. I'm only advising you about recent issues.
On a side note, that pistol has just about everything on it and that ambi safety is HUGE!
If you do get one, I hope you plan on improving it's look a little. :D

Those serrations/rollmark are horrendous + adjustable sights on a railed duty type gun? Dunno man, as said before, at the end of the day it's still just a Para (and it's not Todd Jarrett's).

I think those front serrations are for the tacticool guy's that like to use the front of the slide to press check their 1911's.

This might be the one for you:

:iagree: for that price might as well get something else.

Let's try that again:

All it needs is your adjustable sights and magwell.

And if having the word "Tacticool" on the slide is a must have you can always have it engraved.

Its not the phrasing or anything else. You're not getting that I already own Colt, Dan Wesson, and others. Its a matter of wanting another brand, LOVING the cocking serrations whether or not anybody else likes them, because I do. I like the extras without having to drop 50-100 on a mag well, 50-100 on bo-mar style sights, and it comes with the rail style that I like. It also has 30lpi checkering front and rear and a few extras here and there, and has a 4.25" barrel. The target sights go on almost all my guns whether or not its a carry gun. I like Bo-Mar sights period. Its not a brand thing, tacticool thing, or a todd jarrett thing, I just want another brand to the lineup, simple as that.

Out of curiosity, why the hate on the serrations? What do you think makes a good cocking serration?

They seem almost comically oversized in terms of width, maybe if you're wearing winter gloves? While I prefer vertical serrations, slanted can work too - more of a fan of the traditional looking serrations with more lpi. If you prefer the Bomar sights then that's one less thing you'd have to tweak, I just figured with the rail etc. you were leaning more toward fixed sights. Maybe a Fusion or Caspian build? Dunno, if you can find it for a good price I'd give it a shot, but Paras seem to quite troublesome.

and not just any Colt! Its a highly customized early 80's race gun with hand checkered front strap, rear strap, rear of slide, slide stop, plunger, trigger guard. Chamfered holes for the slide stop, bead blasted nickel anodized frame, bo-mar sights, custom skeletonized front sight, hand fitted bushing, barrel, and frame to slide fit. Its unreal how well it shoots. One of the nicest colts i've ever seen much less owned.

As far as the Para, they're not that bad and a lot of people don't want to give them a chance. They're great guns for the most part, but people would rather slam them than try them. Look at RIA. They're great guns, but dirt cheap so we should slam them?

I find that gun to be terribly ugly. Para seems to have one of the worst reputations for reliability of any 1911 maker I've seen, short of Taurus.

RIA is dirt cheap but has a better reputation and is more popular than PARA.

If Para is what you want then get it. Calgunners are only warning you and letting you know where PARA stands.

The price of that PARA is $1236 + FFL fee + maybe taxes depending which ffl you go to. In my honest opinion, and what most of us are trying to tell you is for those $1236 you could get a much better 1911 from a much more reputable manufacturer. Had this gun been $400 dollars cheaper most of us would be saying it's good to go.

Is this gun really worth it? You don't have to justify anything to anyone,if it'll make you happy, by all means get it.

I've found that front serrations on a 1911 make for much easier support-side (for right-handers) manipulation of the slide and slide catch. YMMV

I said tacticool not mall ninja:D, my XSE has front serrations as well :43:.

The front serrations do make press checking the gun easy and simple. A lot of wasted movement coming around back and over the top to use the back serrations for a press check. Plus your hand is in the way so your having to move the gun around to see into the chamber. It's not that you can't do it from the front without the serrations, it's just that the gun can get slippery in bad weather or when you're sweating your rear end off. My hands slip on my Glock during press checks often enough that I press check it by pulling from the back as described above. A lot of wasted movement, but it is reliable. So to me, front serrations are a nice bonus feature that are very useful. If the complaint is that they "look" funny...well, aren't you anti-tacticool guys always picking on the guys who are drawn the tactical stuff for supposedly letting looks play a factor in our purchases? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Functionality and reliability matters most to me. It serves a purpose and the cons are minimal compared to the pros I consider myself lucky to have it. Looks factor in as the last consideration.

Stop explaining yourself and trying to justify yourself to others. Our opinions don't matter. If you want one, get one. If you're happy, that's all that matters.:D Everyone has different tastes. I only offered a warning about CURRENT Paras. Like I said, I have a 2005 SSP that's been flawless. I happen to like Para, just not that one. And like you, I'm trying to have as many different 1911s as I can. You've seen my group photo. 1 of everything.
Just trying to find someone to single shot it maybe your only problem. Good luck.

Oh I don't give much of a rats *** about what others think, I do think its funny how much bashing goes into a company that most people haven't even owned a firearm from. Go to the Para forum and they'll bash colt for this that or the other I'm sure! All it is is a preference. I like the features on that gun specifically from top to bottom. If Colt made it, people would drool over it but since its a Para, people want to knock it. The few Para's I've seen around here have had a fantastic fit and finish, smooth slide, nice action and trigger, and have been nothing but excellent. Given I didn't get to fire them, I don't know how feed and extraction is but its a 1911, if it doesn't run right then fix it, easy as that. 1911's are like the Chevy 350 to me, parts abundant and you can get a grocery getter or a 10 second drag monster.
