Was wondering how potential EMPs would affect my LED lites? the Expensive ones with a circuit board.

It is possible. Circuit board or not LEDs are diodes, a semi conductor device. In an EMP situation if it uses trons don't count on it. Candles, hurricane lamps, and lanterns will be primary sources of light.

I miners carbide head lamp is awesome!!!

Store them in an EMP can.

My biggest fear is a second EMP a day or two later after all of us have broke out our EMP protected gear.

Ah, OK.

I was under the assumption EMPs would only affect electronics that were turned ON.

ie: LED lites or Laptop turned OFF or better yet, Batteries removed.

Nope... it affects the junctions in the semiconductors.

And what are you going to do with a laptop, Ipad... or for that matter, handheld HAM radio after an EMP?

There won't be an internet or HAM repeater sites.
The only radio communication is going to be LOS and DX via skip or Moonbounce.

Oh yeah that scary. Maybe you can have a grace period? Take out your EMP protected gear like 2 or 3 days after an EMP. I dont know if that will help.

Maybe we could send a nice letter to the muslims asking them not to emp us twice.

What about a lined gun safe for storing electronics? Reasonable equivalent to the trash-can concept?
