Is there really any difference in sights or is it just what style you like? I really like the MAGPUL MBUS BACK-UP SIGHTS GEN 2, but they seem a little pricey to me.

I have heard mostly bad reviews on the magpul mbus sights, they're plastic not metal like other iron sights out there.

if you need a front and rear set, troy makes quality folding battlesights you can get them at 170 for a set

my rifle has a front post so i only use a rear sight and the matech buis works great for me.

OP, if you think the Magpul sights are expensive, you better brace yourself. Another good option is the Daniel Defense fixed sights- rear has the A1 aperture, which means set it and forget it (almost no way they can accidently be knocked out of zero).

You can find combo sets for right around $100- Not much more than the MBUS set.

Ok what is OP? I have seen that several times now when people reply to my threads

Thats what I am wondering about sights, they all pretty much do the same thing, so aren't you just really buying what style you like? Isnt the rear always like a circle or diamond and then the front is just a post? Also I want a flip up not fixed

OP = Original Poster or Original Post.

Sights are indeed different, it's not just a matter of style.

For example, I originally had a midwest industries folding rear sight. The windage knob on it was huge and easy to turn. The problem was that with the windage knob being so easy to turn, I could never expect it to keep it's zero. It bugged the hell out of me.

I looked at the original magpul mbus, too chunky to fit under an optic. Too much plastic on the base where it mounts to the rail. Plastic on the rest would be fine, but not on the mount point. The mbus gen 2 is thinner on the rail, but I don't care.

The Troy rear sight sits flatter, it's a lot sturdier, it's not going to get bumped and loose zero. The diamond aperture seems like a gimmick. Focusing on my front sight post, the diamond just becomes a huge blur so spending money just for that is kinda pointless.
