I just got a Bushmaster "10-Round Rifle Magazine" from an online vendor, for my first ar-15 build.

My problem is that I can only fit 5 rounds in the mag, and the fifth one BARELY goes in, and its difficult to remove.

The magpul 10/20s I ordered load up just fine. Am I missing something here?
Is there an easy fix for this?

Sounds like you got the 5rd mags instead of the 10's, they make both.

yup..its a 5 rd Hunting mag. Some states have a law limiting the AR15 to 5 rds or less while hunting. Ca has no law like that. Sounds like they sent you the wrong magazine.

Darn. Packaging says 10 round. Nothing about 5. Oh well

IF you want you might be able to make it back into a 10 rounder.

If its crimped on the side your can file them down or if it has a block just take it out.

Quick fix if you dont mind jerkin around with the mag and want a 10 rounder instead of the 5.

With no tension on the spring I can fit 10 rounds in, but the section that is naturally bunched up, is too big to fit everything together. Would I just have to cut out some of that area so 10 rounds can fit?

If you really feel like it you can stretch out about 5-6 coils from the bunch and then snip off the rest and, voila, it's now a 10 rounder.
