Decided to change up my M1A Scout setup. I have an Aimpoint CompM4 and am wondering if anyone knows who makes a really low sitting mount so I can get the Aimpoint as close to co-witnessing as possible... if it's possible at all.

If you get the Ultimak forward rail, an aimpoint micro, comp m2/m3 and Trijicon Tripower can all be co-witnessed (or at least very close to it). I don't think it will be possible with the Comp M4 because of the mount. Now if you want the scope over the receiver, then the lowest mount is the ARMS 18, but it will not be co-witnessed and you'll probably want a cheek riser.

I went with the Ultimak rail with an Aimpoint micro. I really like how well it turned out. The cowitness is nice, but I generally look over the sights and it's much easier.

I like it... that's a nice rail... however I'm stuck with the CompM4... i wonder if i'll be able to see the iron sights at all. No matter... i suppose since the red dot will be on a QD mount, it won't be too much of an issue.

you could try the bobro mount without the spacer, it should get you pretty low. Not sure if it will co-witness though; I'm thinking probably not.

I have an ADM mount... i wonder if they make a low rise spacer... also have the original CompM4 mount... perhaps the CompM4 is just not the right tool for the job, maybe i need a tri-power or something.

Very nice. Is the height of the rail the same as the stock M1A Scout rail?

Specifically, if I use the ARMS mount on a stock rail can I still use the iron sites and get the same cowitness as you have?

I am pretty sure the Ultimak rail is lower than the stock scout rail. I'm running the Primary Arms micro dot (Aimpoint micro clone) on my Scout and there is no cowitness. It also has turned my cheek weld into a cheek/chin weld. The Ultimak rail is on my "to get" list.

A few days late to the party but...I just wanted to say that I too love my ultimak. Initially I used an Aimpoint with matching Aimpoint QRP, worked fine.

I'm currently using my ultimak with a scout scope setup, mounted on low perm rings is a Leupold VX II Variable scout scope.

Low Perm rings, that's a nickel between the scope and rail, it moves freely in that space
