Thanks to the months I've spent lurking in this forum I've been able to start a firearms club at my university. I'm hoping I can find some Calgunners in the Ventura area who would be willing to help us out as we grow and expand our club.

CSUCI alumn. I'm in. Did the school actually sanction your club?

CSUCI alumni here also, Computer Science Major. My brother was in the club as a community member and I believe my brother's friend was the one who originally started the club a few years ago. I was never in the club because I didn't even know about it when I was attending CSUCI. From what I heard from my bro, the school police were involved in the club and they even took a trip to a police range I think. But, he thought that the club was disbanded since there was no one to run it after my bro's friend graduated. Nice to hear that you took up the task!

I'm not too far away. I might be able to donate a little time now and again.

I'll see if I can get you some support. My Gramps has his archives there and he was pretty instrumental in establishing the school.
Caveat - he's not a spring chicken anymore - but he's a big 2A guy and he needs to get outta the house.

Thanks for the welcome everybody.
Joe - Not sure what you mean by sanctioned but we are registered club. Surprisingly I've received a lot of support from the administration in starting up the club; almost feels like there's going to be one of those Admiral Ackbar moments. I'll actually be meeting with the university president and vice-president this week regarding the NSSF grant so fingers-crossed I guess.
Dan - Our main club adviser in university pd.

Maybe you could start a Facebook page for the Club? It would be a good way to update us on what it going on and what is needed. Once members start posting it could gain some momentum.

We currently have a fb group but I've kept it closed to protect the privacy of my club members (half of them are female). It would be a good idea though to start a separate page to keep the community informed.
