1) Why are you posting a rifle question in the "Handguns" forum?
2) Appleseed is by far the best bang for your rifle training buck.

NRA Rifle class? Worth it?

I took it and enjoyed. Great for a person who likes small groups ( we had 4 including me and my gf) and the staff was super friendly and patient. It was a two day course, so the next day at the range, the instructor brough his M1, AR15, lcowboy lever action colt .45 rifle, a 45-70 rifle ( or 45-110...well the quigly down under rifle) and I got to fire them all. Plus since this was a class, we had the WHOLE range to ourselves.:D

This was at the Lion's club @ Lucerne Valley (http://www.lvlionsclub.com/publicshootingrange.htm)

On a side note, I still want to attend an Appleseed.

NRA Rifle class? Worth it?

Worth it is relative. If you're already familiar with safety and the operation of firearms, then I would skip the class and attend something like an Appleseed shoot. If you're new to firearms, new to rifles, or are not sure about safety, then I would take the NRA class.

I don't think the NRA basic classes and the Appleseed shoot are the same type of class. One teaches marksmanship at it's core, while the other teaches safety first, and marksmanship second. You will only shoot 50 rounds in the NRA class, you will shoot more at the Appleseed event.
