I found this last month at a shooting range, can you tell me what it is?

Compared for size next to a .223 casing.

P.S. I know what it is already, I just want to see if YOU know what it is without peeking at the headstamp! (Which I naturally had to do after I picked it up.)

BONUS:

This was the view from the shooting range.........fantastic!

Dude, be serious. Everybody knows a phased plasma rifle uses an electro-magnetic containment cartridge and not a brass casing. Gosh!

Is that a 10ga, possibly from a cutdown 50 cal? (Looks a little slim for that, but what the heck!)

We had a Mk38 25mm? cannon on the patrol boat I was on in the coast guard, it looks similar. Its not inert is it? I've never seen a black tip. I still have one of the ammo cans for it. It marked "light" on the lid which is one of those ha ha funny jokes, especially since it takes two men to move them up the ladder and through the hatch in forward berthing to the gun mount...

If it isn't .45/110 or .45/120 I'd have to say .410bore? I've never compared one to .223 side by side, but that looks about the right size.

I know one hardcore shotgunner that reloads .410 in all brass hulls because he wants the extended life over plastic hulls. I think he makes his own brass from .30-06 or .303.

Not my area of expertise, but that'd be my guess.

sicko is full of it. Unless that green volksy in the backround isn't a target, this is not a range.

You ok bro?

Yes, it's a range. When you are shooting, and you look to the left, that is what you will see. The range is 90* perpendicular to that view, savvy?

It is not the Minarets. Your in the ballpark though.

It's about 35 miles south-southwest of there as the crow flies, but almost 2 hours as the car drives.

Alright guys, here it is:

.410 x 73 MAG

http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx97/allmystuff556677/headstamp.jpg

I believe that would be .410x73mm. Also notice the "Gn3" on the stamp. Pretty sure that this is Russian shotgun ammo, however, what it will work with now is anyone's guess.
