Just had a question, I think i'm going to pick up a glock 19 gen 4 before I go. What's the process that I need to go through when I get down there, do I need to register it or anything? Thanks for your help.

Definitely going to support cal guns,

parker

Don't forget to apply for your LTC when you get here :D

wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/index.php/Firearms_registration

This is the form: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/ab991frm.pdf

You will have to lose the regular capacity mags or block them to 10 rounds or disassemble them.

Thanks guys, is that process long? In wa you just get fingerprinted and pay $25

All you have to do is fill out the form with the fee per handgun (not long guns) and send it in. The amount of time it takes to process is variable, but your only responsibility is completing/mailing the forms in a timely manner. This may or may not apply to you depending on the type and make of guns you own, but also be sure to check the flow charts at the top of every page so you do not run afoul of CA specific AW laws.

The glock 19 isn't on the list but since i'm buying it in wa and bringing in as long as it has 10rd clips its ok, am I understanding that correctly?

Yeah, that's fine, although once you become a CA resident you will not be able to import them this way. You would have to buy through a private party transfer, single shot exemption, or intrafamilial transfer.

I'm in Fresno, why would you come here from Wa?

No real good gun deals here, buy what you want first then bring them in to Cali, although PRK does do a service with single shots , and We the People Firearms are also very good folks to deal with, but prices are high in the Central Valley.

Just make sure, no high cap mags, (standard Capacity) any thing above ten rounds needs to be disassembled,

Make sure any long guns are not assault weapons by name or feature per the Ca DOJ, if by name, you cant bring it here, if by feature, neuter it first.

Fresno county is pretty good
With issuing carry permits. Sheriff mims has been quoted in the paper saying we all know the bad guys are carrying guns, so the good guys should be able to as well.

Its almost that easy here :p

I made my appointment 11-1 and had it in my hand 7-1. And it runs about $200

You know Fresno is pretty much a sh*thole right? The only thing that makes it kinda ok is the awsome 4 wheeling and that its pretty much a "shall issue" county :p

Wa. is a beautiful state. I have spent quite a bit of time in Wenatchee.

I have been in Fresno all my life, more good than bad in my opinion. get your CCW, its very easy and who knows how long it will be this way.Mimms is awesome!

Your right in the middle of the state, you can go to the mountais, the coast, the big city both north and south, though who would want to Lol! Lots of places to shoot and hunt, some of the best single track stuff anywhere if your into off road bikes or even Super moto, great roads for riding.

I find alot of good used stuff here, firearms that is.

Nobody can drive here though, dont get me started.

I road race an 07 Z06 and I can race on out of this world famous tracks in all directions, like 8 to choose from within a few hours drive.

Fresno is just big enough that you can get stuff locally you cant in small towns, auto parts, etc...But still not too big that you have to fight traffic all the time.

I can run my custom Knife Making business out of my home....

If you want to hook up and shoot sometime, let me know.

While you're at it, pick up something else that's not on the CA-approved roster and is in high demand here. Many sub-sub-compacts like Kel-Tec PF9, S&W bodyguard, etc, aren't on the roster and therefore sell at a premium, as do double stack 1911 frames like STI and SVI frames. Of course, buying a gun for the purpose of bringing it with you to sell isn't legal, so make sure you're buying it with the intention of keeping it for yourself and then changing your mind and selling it :TFH:

You can bring a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds into CA with you, but it has to be dissassembled, which makes it a "parts kit." If you want to use the gun, you'll either have to purchase 10 round mags or "permanently modify" yours to accept no more than 10 rounds (some people epoxy a block plate inside, but there are a few ways to do it).

The state wants you to apply from your primary/permanent address. Doing otherwise is a big no-no if "the man" was to catch wind of it. At the very least, you'll have to show something proving that you reside at the address like vehicle registration, utilities bill, etc, and your driver's license/ID has to have that same address.

not if you stay their sometimes you have to tell them you stay there a lot. (the law says it is where your permanent address is, or work)

Check out Van Ness on google earth... Ah never mind. People who live there will tell you its a **** hole because they lack the will to leave or because the CHOOSE to live in a bad neighborhood. There are many great 'hoods all over town, so you aren't limited to just one side or corner.

As others have said, recreation is in abundance and some of the MOST beautiful places on the entire earth are within a couple hours drive.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, other than the haze we get here in Fresno on hot days this doesn't seem like such a ****hole to me. I'd rather live here in Fresno County instead of the socialist ****holes that are LA and SF.

Get all the guns you can online before you come here (Cheap as heck compared to buying or finding them in CA) and add CA compliance parts...This is for AK rifles...Handguns is different.

I was in your position almost 3 years ago.

I should have bought more guns up there. Same goes with ammo.

I could second that. If it weren't for the fact my mom still lives in the bay area, I would never go back there.......except to go dust off clays at Coyote Valley. :D

Not exactly, the State requires you to be a "Resident" of the City/County you apply in. Local LE has narrowed that down quite a bit.

One more thing to note, before we all get excited about Mims' policy to issue a License to Carry a concealed weapon, the interviews are available starting September 2012. There's not one **** thing that's "friendly" about that issuance policy, regardless of what their stance on 'Good Cause' is. There's this little issue of Due Process of law.

So what if my boyfriend lives in Fresno and I stay there with him sometimes... can I use his address to get my ccw? :D
Per State Law, you're a "resident".
Come check us out when you get into town, we can try and make it feel a little more like home!
But...but...the other gun shop in town told me you guys are operating in a grey area...and it totally wasn't just because they wanted me to buy a gun from them instead of from you, along with some absolute junk reloads, they were just being 'honest':D
(For the benefit of new folks to the area, everything you can purchase at PRK Arms is 100% legal and compliant with State and Federal laws. They do rely on multiple CA firearms and business attorneys for their info, not email forwards like some FFL's and most internet trolls do.)

Here is my question: If one brother who lives in Arizona buys a handgun that is not in “the list” and gives it as a present to another brother who lives in California-is that legal?
And then-what if that brother decides to sell that gun to me-if we go to a gun store together and buy too much money to transfer the weapon-and I wait to pick it up etc-is that legal?
