CMP is offering a case (5000 rounds) of the subject ammo for $300 + $20 shipping. It is standard velocity ammo, 1080 FPS as I remember. I received a case yesteday and went to the range this morining to see how it would shoot.

Short story is:

1. Kimber 82G w/Scope-Shot as good as Wolf MT 3/8" groups @ 50yds
2. Savage BTVS w/Scope-3/4" groups @ 50 yds not as good as Wolf MT
3. CZ UltraLux w/Aperture Sights-1/2" groups @ 50 yds on par with Wolf MT
4. Zastava Z5 with Red Dot-1/2" groups @ 25 yds on par with Wolf MT

Didn't shoot it in my Mossberg 44US since it likes everything I feed it.

For me the ammo is a good value. Wish the Savage liked it but 3 out of 4 with performance on par with Wolf MT makes this a good choice for me. I did notice a slightly higher or lower report in 1 or 2 rounds in each box (shot 200 rounds) accounting for a few fliers which I never seem to get with the Wolf ammo.

I paid a similar price for Eley Sport last year so all in all this was a good deal. If you don't need a case maybe you could get a buddy or two for a group buy. This stuff retails for $3.50 -$4.50 for a box of 50. According to CMP they purchased theirs in 2005 and its been in a warehouse since that time. It came in the original Federal case box, factory sealed. The ammo looks new.

Google "CMP Sales". Go to the website, click on "e-Store" and click on the "Ammo" tab. It's item 449.

Good to see that is seems to work.

If anyone in SoCal(prefer San Diego area) wants to split a case let me know and I'll order one. Split the cost in half, $160 for 2,500 rounds....what is that, like $.06/round?

My three rifles that liked it are not that picky about ammo and perhaps I was just lucky to get exceptional firearms with those. As has been said many times, 22 firearms have a love/hate relationship with certain brands of ammo. Example is my Savage BTVS, feed it anything but Wolf MT and it shoots like a shotgun. It even pukes on Lapua Center-X which is $10/50 rounds. With the Wolf its like a laser.

That is an excellent price. It's normally $370 for that amount at Champion Shooters: http://www.championshooters.com/store/product.php?productid=992&cat=285&page=1

I have two rifles that shoot the 711B very well.

Here's a link to example of this ammo shoot from a Kimber 82G @ 25 yds:

I use 711B all the time in local matches and I like it better that Wolf or SK, both of which have a slightly rounded surface under the case rim and won't eject from my Mossberg 144 LSB because the extractor slides off.
