I need some help here fellas. I found the perfect sights for my (retro/restore) Light weight Commander but they are wide tenon.

Sights:
Rear:

Front:
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=662967

But the front sight is a wide tenon. (will not work) I WANT! these sights on my commander!!!

Questions:
1. Anyone know of any good websites other than, brownells, midway, ect, to order good, 1911 GI narrow tenon sights from?

2. What do you guys think would look good? Sight, Grips, ect,
-I already bought the 1991 grip safety. (this gun will be a CC gun)

I have this (not mine, similar to mine): 1967 Colt light weight commander

And I am trying to make something similar to this: 1991 model commander

Pretty sure Fusion has those in narrow. If you can't find it on the online store, give em a call. They're very helpful.

I am kind of starting the same project except my LW Commander is from 68 and in 9mm.

Where are you located? If your near Fresno I would be happy to help you with this. I make, modify alot of sights to get exactly what I want. Its not really worth shipping it to me but if your driving distance I would be happy to help.

I am going to keep mine mostly original though just a few mods to make it a little more user friendly but nothing I cant change back. mainly sights. I am thinking of a convert to .38 Super with a Colt barrel and mags, already have the mags. Mine will also be on my permit.

I am located in the Sacramento area :/. It's a pretty far drive. Lol. Thanks for the offer though. I do a lot of my own gun smithing (tinkering) as well.

That is really cool. I always wanted a light weight Commander in 9mm or .38 super, the .45 kicks like a mule. I have been looking for a Colt 9mm slide and barrel combo for a long time now. Haven't had any luck at the gun shows, or within my price range.

My Father carried his(now my) LW Commander in the late 60's, So, I figure I will start carrying it to keep the heritage going. lol The Commander is a very underrated CC gun IMO.

That looks pretty good. I like the retro look to it, but I really want a sight set, so I don't have to find the right front sight, to match. Hmmm

What do you guys think about these:

I was thinking sights for my Colt...Then I got some paint from some stand at a gun show...WOW. Night and day difference to pick the color that works with your eyes best.

Nice Corgi...Smartest dogs ever.

I did that with my RIA but my father couldn't see the sights, so, I swapped them out for some Maryland autos. I will probably end up getting some Kings sights.

Thanks, Ya, he is a ****ing terror, he punks our 130 lb Rott/Shepard mix.

Harrison offers a front sight as well, can get it with brass bead/gold bead/fiber optic/tritium etc. The Kings might be easier if you just want to order them all at once in stock.

Sounds like a cool project. Sights are one of the weak spots on a retro 1911, IMHO. Replacing them with more useable sights, although less "correct," would be an awesome upgrade.

That is cool. I need to email or call them and find out when they will get front sights in stock, to match. I don't want to be waiting around for months to finish this project, though. I plan on adding my commander to my CC list when I finish this project.

Thanks for the help.
