Like the sign says, bought a used Ruger ranch for cheap and I would like to toss on some sort of scope.. Doesn't need to be tacticool.

No too expensive (something fitting for a $400 rifle)
Magnification to match the caliber

Also, anything special in regards to the rings? Do you need to buy one for Ruger to work with the ranch dovetails?

any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

a fixed 4 is about perfect big enough to see a 2 liter bottle at its maximum range there is less to break inside and they are often very affordable

if you dont have rings you will need some of the special ones from ruger you can often buy used ones at gunshows

You can use Ruger factory ring but they are a little bit expensive.
Aftermarket ones are ok but sometime don't fit well.
like bohoki said 4x fixed is enough
If you want to go with more accuracy type setting, 3X-9X40 scope is the best.
You can get Nikon prostaff in Walmart around $150....
It's good enough...
BTW, I have ruger scope ring for sale if you want it

I assume you have two rings.. right? How much? :)

Links to scopes would be good.. I guess a fixed Bushnell or Nikon would be GTG..
