I bought this 10/22 originally used for pretty cheap. Ditched the stock for the awesome Hogue, put an Adams & Bennett heavy barrel, Primary Arms M3 Red Dot and a sweet Walmart adj. sling. It was a blast too shoot but the weight came in at pretty much 8lbs! I wasn't using it for a bench gun, just strictly offhand so I had to do something about that.

Cut to now, replaced the barrel with the incredible Tactical Solutions Ultra Light-Weight Fluted .920 and replaced the PA Red Dot with a Bushnell TRS-25 on crazy sale from Amazon right now ($30 rebate!) The friggen thing dropped over 3lbs and now weights only 4.75 lbs!!! The balance is way better now too; right at the mag release. The front isn't heavy or weighted feeling, just perfect front to back. So happy now, the upgrades were well worth the price.

I have this same bbl/stock combo. VERY light. Shooting offhand is difficult to stabilize due to the light weight. Easy to carry in the field though.

Yea I'll have to give it a bunch of shooting and see how it fairs. I just wanted this to be super light weight for field carry, pack packing etc.

Super nice looking upgrade dude!!! It would still be a nice bench rest shooter...just an ultra lite version with a nice scope on it. Enjot it remendously.

Nice. I pick up my 10/22 in a week and I have that same red dot. What rail mount are you using?

I have the UTG picatinny, but even the standard Waver rail should work fine.

Mico range report.

Only took me about 20 rounds to really get the TRS-25 dialed in at around 35 yards. Incredible red dot for the money. A great range of brightness settings which also change the moa size of the dot. It was pretty bright out and I ran it on 5.

Ammo: I first tried Winchester 555 Red Box ammo, which is pretty low grade stuff and the Tac-Sol barrel did alright with it, just about as many jams as the factory barrel, so I wasn't worried. Then I switched to Federal 333 Bulk and it ran like an absolute dream! ZERO malfunctions in about 200 rounds.

This thing is so light it's amazing, and shooting offhand was honestly easier than a heavier gun. The way it's setup with the Tac-Sol barrel, Hogue stock and the TRS-25 makes the balance incredible; pretty much right at the trigger guard so it's very easy to shoot offhand. I was plinking the smallest of the last row of targets (~100 yards) at Angeles with ease. Could prolly get 10/10 with taking more time.

All in all I'm extremely satisfied with the changes I've made! Next up is most likely a new hammer/sear package, new trigger and a new charging handle.

Another quick update. This weekend I installed the Rimfire Technologies Hammer/Sear package as well as their Trigger and Charging Handle.

I've never done much gunsmith work but I am quite mechanically inclined. Man oh man is this thing sweet! SEVERELY dropped the trigger pull and the feel of the flat faced new trigger is incredible. The new charging handle is a huge improvement over the stock one as well and it's smoother.

Sorry for the questions, as I am new to Cali, but how are you able to have that BX-25 mag for your 10/22. Reading the Calgun wiki it states that NO mag made after 2000 is avaliable for sale or to cross the state lines.

Not trolling, just asking. I had thought I had to ditch my 30rd mags before relocating here. Im going to be pissed of thats not the case.

ETA: Answered via PM. Bigstick is L.E. That clears things up!

Also FYI, looks can be deceiving as people do buy them out of state, disassemble them and block them so they only hold 10, but will look stock. Anyway, you'll see that a lot here, some members are LE and some do as I said.

please don't de rail this thread with mag related questions, pm the specific individual. It is what it is, let it be if they have 10+ rnd mags.

How is thw quality of the bushnell red dot? How is the reddot during the daylight

aermotor

TRS-25 is excellent quality! I only use it at setting 5 in full sunlight because 11 is too bright at the dot gets too big. Great red dot and very light weight. The one downside I would say is that it's field of view is small.

I used to have a PA on my 10/22 and took it off because how big it was and the weight. I prefer the FOV of the PA definitely and that's what I use on my AR. I think the TRS-25 is a better red dot for a 10/22 however.

If weight isn't a concern, go with the PA as it's a great red dot. Not nearly as bright as the TRS-25 though.

Any of these red dot sight has a green dot option?
If i did go with a optic i would go to a lighter weight cause i will have ar style .22lr.
Also i plan on getting the a2 front sight with an a2 carry handle. What height of a riser would i need to co witness the a2 style sights? Mid length?

Any other optics u guys can recommend for my ar .22lr?
Not trying to spend a whole lot.

My experience with the Winchester 555 box ammo is they get jammed up in the magazine but the are pretty accurate and a good hunting round. I use factory mags and the rounds appear to be too long due to the deep hollow point cavity.

The Federals are much better at feeding in my rifle as well, although they arent quite as accurate.

Nice rifle btw, I might try out a TacSol barrel too ;)
