[forgive me if this has been covered but search here and with Google is letting me down]

I'm interested in a gun safe that can be broken down into smaller pieces to make moving house easier. Can you point me to brands and give experience on how "safe" these types of safe are.

The only one I've heard of is the Zanotti Armor safe...

They get good reviews on the various gun forums. The only complaint is that the design precludes any kind of fire protecton.

Shoot... I cleaned up my bookmarks... there is a company (starts with 'Z') that makes a safe that breaks into parts... still needed two dudes to carry the base from what I recall.

Someone else will remember for me... right?

Thanks Gents, just what I want.

Z = Expensive.

i was going to go that route also, partially for the convenience in moving, and partially for the discrete nature in getting the safe (multiple, unmarked boxes) shipped to the house. but, for the amount of $$$ they want, i just decided to deal with the "inconvenience" of moving the safe myself.

In addition to the Zanotti, I remembered seeing another one like it...

I found it again: http://www.gunngard.com

I haven't used either one (Zanotti or Gunngard) so can't provide opinions.

problem with gunngard's offering is that is is so lightweight and compact to begin with, so moving a safe that size isn't as troublesome. when you factor in the cost difference, it quickly loses its appeal.
