Looks like it could be cool, but only if it fits nice and tight...

Wow terrible reviews. Seems though that a couple committed buyers made it work by tapping holes in their dust covers or trigger frames, neither of which sounds good to me.

The Dawson rail has been the way to go for well over a decade, at least before 1911 frames were being built with integrated rails (Caspian for example).

Thanks for the info^. Can't seem to find a tac rail on the Dawson site though...

Also, Novak makes something similar...
Back about 10 years ago you needed a smith to install these but the newer models may torque on easily and not need any drilling or fitting.

That surefire rail adapter looks pretty cool, mite pick that one up to run the streamlight tlr-2. thanks for the link!
I still don't see how that rail adapter from dawson mounts to a 1911 frame...

You drill and tap the frame for the rail.
