if anyone is looking for a great little plinker, turners has the Marlin 795 for 134.99 before mail in rebate (25$)

I paid 150 for mine AFTER rebate a year ago. Incredible price - im in no way shape or form affiliated with Turners, I just love to window shop, saw this deal and it was too good not to mention to my fellow CGers

I just went there and put one in jail on saturday afternoon.

Excited to pick it up.

I think I'll drop a scope on it and call it a day.

I had a cheapie scope on mine - it kept sliding around, so i removed it and painted my barrel iron tip blaze oj and never looked back :)

Put one in jail on this past Sunday. Im very excited as its my first rimfire! Already ordered a Barska scope, 2 extra mags, and a mount/ring combo. Total is less than $250 for what I expect to be a reliable, accurate rimfire.

I got one and it shoots to the right about 2-3" out of the box, i dont see any way to adjust to windage on the rear sight. the manual says to tap the front of the rear sight but the clips that hold the sight dont let it move. so now it just sits in the closet all by its lonesome. I was hoping to really like this gun to.

Have you considered replacing the sights with something else? I am planning on replacing mine with Tech Sites or possible fire sights on the new one.

Just ordered mine total was 178.00 with tax and ca extortion, not counting the rebate but I never count on those. The sites don't look very good but there's going to be a scope on it anyway.

i bought mine when they were 109 after rebates and cant be more happy with it. have never had a hick up yet other than cheap bulk pack ammo with a few duds. shoots anything i throw in it, plus its real easy to clean and if your bored you could also polish the feed ramps.

Honestly just give it a bit of muscle, I tapped mine completely out because I was going for a sniper scope only look. Wood dowel and hammer less then a minute it was totally out.

You could probably just bend the rear sight over to one side with your fingers, that's how we did it on my friends Marlin Golden 39a

Maybe lift the sight up and pull the step rail out first so its not fighting you?

I saw the ad! For a nice little 22LR for plinking that's a fantastic price...Get them while you can. Now a days one doesn't see bargains like this much ever anymore.

Stock iron sights are fine if straight. When I bought mine I was giving it the once-over on pick-up day and noticed that the rear sight was a little canted. They (Turner's) got me another one from the warehouse. I came to find out this is not an uncommon occurrence. Give yours a good look when you go to pick it up.

These are great little rifles, you will not regret buying it.

Pretty much anything will work for the 795. If you want the good stuff, go CCI Mini Mags.

A plain old generic black rifle bag will do. I have several rifle bags that I've purchased used from calgunners. I'm mainly using them for transport to and from the range.

Ricky-Ray

Turners has a rifle case on sale for $20 bucks in their fall catalog sale. That will do the job.

what do you think about this hard case? Its 53" long and only $16.

That will do just fine. Personally I prefer soft cases, takes up less space in the SUV.

I took a ride out to Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga with a friend and they had some generic rifle bags for like 12 bucks or something. I forget the brand but it's whatever the Bass Pro store brand is. I figured that was good enough for now.

I'd rather save the case for some accessories since this is my first gun.

My understanding is the .22 drops 5" or something just past 100 yards.. so he'd have to be lobbing the rounds to 200... lol
