This is the US DoJ overseer of the GunRunner program... what do you think? Thrown under the bus, or escaping the sinking ship?

PHOENIX - U.S. Attorney for Arizona Dennis Burke has submitted his resignation to President Barack Obama.

In an email sent to his staff Tuesday, Burke says his long tenure in public office has been intensely gratifying and intensely demanding.

Burke says it's the right time to move on to pursue other aspects of his career and life and allow the office to move ahead.

Burke was appointed U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona in 2009.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says Burke's resignation is effective immediately

It absolutely is. Only problem is that the casualties have not gone up the chain of command quite far enough yet.

He's almost certainly getting out of town ahead of the sheriff on this deal. The question becomes......

Will he be a cooperative witness?

Sounds like. I understand he's also a Napolitano stooge.

I was hoping for more resignations or consequences than this...maybe it's early yet.

Nobody splits after two years unless they have a place to land.

If we hear about him taking some very lucrative job, it might not be a Fast and Furious thing.

He'll get taken care of. He's a political appointee in a Dem administration. Look for him to resurface in 6 months into another lowER profile job. He fell on his sword for the Big Guys.
