I'm sorry guys, I'm sure this has been answered on here some where before, and I'm sure some of you might be tired of the question, but I used the search and got back the most random stuff that had nothing to do with my search. Don't know if it's cause I'm using tapatalk on my phone or if searches on the computer are just as bad. Anyway, my grandfather was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and the doctors have told us he has 6months to a year to live. He has recently informed my mother (his daughter) that he owns two pistols (one registered to him, one not registered) that he would be passing down to me. I have no information about them at all. We are kind of just wondering how the inheritance of a firearm works. Is it better to do the transfer before he passes or after if it matters at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Either before or after he passes works. See the wiki articles --
