I've been looking at lots of different options for mounting a light on my MOE handguard. I found the Elzetta ZFH1500-T (http://www.elzetta.com/zfh1500faq.htm) but I'm worried that it'll make the rifle front-heavy.

I'm also considering a UTG Universal Mount (http://www.amazon.com/UTG-Universal-Slide-on-Flashlight-Ring/dp/B002TUSRMM/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I27BTT8XHMNYH4&colid=2EGZXQ86M7K7M) with a Magpul 5-slot polymer rail (http://www.amazon.com/Magpul-Polymer-Rail-Sections-Slot/dp/B003F6EMQO/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IIG4KDAG83ZHR&colid=2EGZXQ86M7K7M). I'll be using a Streamlight Polytac (http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-88850-Polytac-Flashlight-Batteries/dp/B001S0IN46/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IW2DCUWSSUB1P&colid=2EGZXQ86M7K7M) with the setup and it'll be mounted on a midlength handguard with an MOE VFG. I'd love to hear from anyone who has mounted a light on their MOE.

I used the Magpul illumination kit on my Moe Middy setup. The only piece really worth the kit is the cantilever rail, but it is a sweet set up.

I use a Magpul illumination kit along with a full-sized Surefire weapon light and it only added a few extra ounces of weight....

Another option:

No rail needed, mounts directly to the MOE HG.

Thanks, but the route I'm looking to go is less than half that price with basically the same result. Does anyone else have any experience with the MOE?

What works well:

Offset flashlight mount (buy from amazon for $10), and mount it on the right hand side on a L2 polymer rail (5 slot) at 3:00.

If you do so, and if you have a vertical foregrip, you can use your thumb to activate the light.

Very ergonomic!

There are really only 2 options if you want to mount it on the hand guards. Either an IWC mount, or an add on rail (i.e. Magpul illumination kit) with scope ring (flashlight mount). Or you can go with the Elzetta, or a FSB rail mount (GG&G, MI & YHM) with scope ring.

I added a polymer rail section to the top and left side. 1inch quick detach flashlight ring and your all set. Pretty simple really
