Well, I'm going to be buying a saiga soon and wanted to know some things about the saiga before buying it. So here it goes..

First question:

Is the saiga in .223 actually chambered for .223 or is it 5.56x45? (I've heard it is military chambered..so it is probably 5.56x45 but just don't have enough info to know for sure.)

The same question above just for the .308.

Any help would be helpful.

BTW...would it be legal to convert 20rd m14 mags (had em before the ban) for use in the saiga? I think it would if I remember correctly.

if your moded mag will still function in the original firearm you are fine.

They should. It works for the AR's chambered in 5.56.

The thing is i heard it is unsafe to fire a 5.56 round in a .223 barrel and unsafe to fire a .308 round in a 7.62x51 barrel. I want to be able to use both surplus and commercial.
