So I'm giving my dad one of my Mosin's .one is a 1925 izzy from turners and one is a 1930 something from a calgunner...I bought it cash and carry...he had the license, I had to fill out his c&r form. So which would be easier to gift to my father? He shot the Mosin, mauser, enfield , etc growing up in El Salvador and as training rifles in the Salvadoran Army...

Or is it one of those thing where it won't really matter? Will I have to fill out a intra- familial transfer ???

If he's here in the US, just hand it to him and say "Happy Gift Day". No paperwork required.

If you and your father are both California residents and he is legally able to own firearms then there is no paperwork involved. The intra-family paperwork is for handgun transfers only.

Don't forget to get a nice pic of the two of you with him holding the rifle and smiling. I'd say that's pretty much a requirement whenever there is a family transfer, just for the great memories. I wish I had a pic of my grandfather handing me his 30-30 that I inherited.

Replaced error. Residents from different states must go thru a FFL to transfer firearms across state lines due to Federal law.
