my projects for a romy g and polish kbk fixed buttstock build restoration. i hope to get the receiver finish to match and not refinish the kits they look that good!

well i finally saved enough to get these today!
late 70's romy arrow in triangle. looks pretty new. wood is almost flawless with only the laminate lifting. i noticed it has the kit number stamped on the side of the lower handguard. pretty cool. i didn't see this on the 80's. the polish is a early 80's. heavy cosmoline. looks new. i remember the select pick polish kit from global was a dark greyish park. the kit i have now looks like a russian finish. the black shines a little more than the romy. i like it.

here are a few pictures. if you're a senior calgunner and need a kit let me know i can send you a link.

These kits are sweet!

I just finished poring over my Romy parts and I am VERY pleased. The parkerizing on everything looks brand new except for some minor handling scratches on the "hood thing" that covers the gas rod and spring (not sure what you call the actual parts). The bolt shows zero wear. The contact point on the firing pin shows zero wear. The only part that shows even SLIGHT wear is the forward face of the extractor.

The barrel is mirror! I could tell it was mirror as soon as I looked through it the first time, but there was a little bit of powder/dirt/particles, maybe just from storage, and all of it came completely out with a couple of solvent-soaked patches. Now the barrel looks brand new.

I'll post some pics of everything tomorrow maybe. Thanks for kicking down your source, qbertquartz2!

If you want the kits to look stock order and small Parkerized kit from Brownells. Just do the receiver and that it all. Once you do the build use a small bottle of cold blueing to do the rivets and it should look really good. If you have any problems with the Parkerizing drop me a line and I will see what I can do to help you.

I know this is an older thread, but I finally got around to putting some pics up of the kit I received:

This pic shows the face of the bolt. It looks pretty much unused to me.

Here's the bore. Picture's not great, but after a couple passes with the rod to get out the dust and a little grease, this thing is MIRROR:

Waiting on the furniture to arrive, then it's off to jemaddux, who will give birth to my next family member.

Sweet kits. There are a few nice romy's out there. I bought mine from Tapco, it was a 1986 kit and was unissued. Not a speak of dirt, powder, rust, or powder fowling. It even had the original brown paper still in the barrel!

Is that long, curly brown piece of paper in the barrel, the one with the sweet, sweet smell of old grease/preservative/?, an indication that the gun was never used? If so, mine was never used also.

Just wanted to let all Calgunners know...........
Cope's has Hungarian AMMS Underfolder kits on preorder right now for $209.99!

They are in a bonded warehouse in Oregon right now being cutup.
They look very good to excellent shape like an SA85 with blond furniture!
These would go with an NDS-1P.

Only 350 or so available and 200 are sold already. An additional 350 may be available later for a total of 700..:D

I didn't know that about the rolled up cardboard/paper in the barrels.

For the record, ALL of the Romanian parts kits CWS is presently selling at the shows have those - $160, no S&H, and you can look through the inventory on hand to hand-select if you want. Even if you didn't look through 'em though, we did pay hand select on all the kits WE ordered, so you'd be cherry picking amongst the best kits already.

Next show is Ontario, this weekend...

I don't like to link to other forums, but Page 6 has a Pic of an actual kit, these look nice.
These rifles look just like the famous pic of Dianne Feinstein holding a Hungarian Underfolder with her finger on the trigger, also on Page 6.

Ahh,the irony!
