Does anyone know what part I need to order (and where from...Brownell's?) to take this option out and have my gun be identical internally to the models that come without the magazine disconnect?

I think speed shooter specialties has the spring needed.

I'm on my mobile so I can't be much more help than that.

No one sells a kit? not even S&W?

Some one should really get on a kit for this. I would buy it in a heart beat.

spring by itself:

and I guess a whole new sear housing block could be considered a 'kit'

I think shipping cost more than the springs when I ordered from Brownells.

I used a 1911 spring I cut down. I know some people have used the spring from a Bic pen with success. It doesn't have to be that strong to get the job done.

Then maybe I will have to look more into this. If you trust your life to "one cut down 1911 spring".

Awesome. I just did it lol. Did you notice any difference in the trigger? I think it is my imagination but it seems a little different.

I used a clicky pen spring for one, but replaced it with the one from speedshooterspecialties.com.

I also bought an extra sear assembly w/out the disconnect, or ils. I use it for spare parts if I need them...

I first did it to my 45 and noticed a difference so I did it to the 9 and 40
