Quick question for Kimber Stainless owners. How durable is the satin finish on Kimber's pistols; does it scratch, marr or wear away easily from handling?

How long have you had it, and does it still look as good as new? What do you use it for, and how often do you handle and/or fire it?

Never put in a holster I've had it for 2 years. Around 750 rounds, looks like new. It was my nightstand gun and spent most of it's time sleeping on a nice soft t shirt. I wouldn't worry about the finish too much it holds up really well.

Nice taste in guns. I've got the same one. Love it, but it's heavy as hell.

Thanks for sharing, I'm looking at a Kimber Target 9mm in stainless and was wondering on the wear.

I recently pick up a Kimber Stainless Target 9mm. I used it in a IDPA match the first time out with a Comp-Tac kydex holster. So far I have not seen any holster wear what so ever on the finish. I am not too worried about it though.

I have a kimber compact stainless II, you can faintly see some scratches but they dont show nearly as much as a blued gun which is excellent.

If I'm not mistaken, aren't they stainless with a satin finish, not just raw stainless.

How's that working out for you? :)

the satin finish is just how they treat the stainless like a media blast or something similar, its not a coating if I am remembering correctly. The aluminum frame on the other hand has a coating if I remember correctly as well (for those guns that have the aluminum frame).

its like 11 ounces lighter than a full size standard 1911 so I figured it would be best. I am not a fan of plastic guns or DA/SA triggers. I like the SA trigger on the kimber, it breaks clean and have not had to do any work to it.

besides that I got a hell of a deal on it used. The guy bought it, put 50 rounds through it and put it in his safe. I picked it up for 850 face to face when I lived in WA.

Wow, that was a good deal.

That being the case, they do a helluva nice cosmetic job on their pistols.

From my expiriance with them, they do a hell of a nice job on everything but the MSH plastic.... idk what they were thinking, I still need to order a stainless one.
