Glock 19 17

:D I drosed it. $657.44 OTD. Picking it up on the 10th :chris:

Gio, the dude at Valkarie Arms, was pretty cool and easy going. I like that store.
They didn't have any 19s left, but then how could you pass up on Glock 17 Gen 4. So I bought it.

I have a .40, .22 and about to have a 9mm. All I need is a .45 next and it has to be a 1911 :D

EDIT: 02.08.11

Seriously, 8 more days...
Anyways, quick question. Since this would be my first polymer gun, what kind of lube do I need for the rails?
I use Brian Enos Slide Glide on my sig, and lube it up with Hoppe's 9 lube. From what I remember, glocks are very low maintenance and don't really need any special lube on rails. So is Hoppe's good enough?

Btw, which accessories should I buy besides cheap awesome mags and a holster for the glock?
Night sights are considered but since this gun wouldnt be used for HD, I might not get for a while.

Nice G17! From the title I thought you went to Virginia to buy it... PM me and I'll offer you a killer deal on a nice Bianchi holster and some "assault clips" (rebuild kits) for it.

Great choice. The factory sights suck and that is the first thing figure out is the POI and order a sight set with the correct front sight height. PM me and we can meet up and try the 10-8 setup I have on mine.

The factory sights should be fairly close but if you are going to buy a new set fine tune it while you can.

Due to the Gun Control Act of 1968, the .380ACP Glocks (25 & 28) can not be imported into the USA for civilian sales. They can be obtain in the USA via law enforcement agency sales.

The .380ACP Glocks were made for the civilian markets of certain countries, where it's not legal to own a firearm in a caliber than the Mil/Gov/LE uses.
The Glock 25 is the same size as the other compact sized Glocks (19, 23, 32, 38) and the Glock 28 is the same size as the other subcompact sized Glocks (26, 27, 33, 39).
Due to the blowback design of the .380ACP Glocks, felt recoil is more than the 9x19mm Glocks.

i never said that they are imported for civilian sales in the US, i just said they make them. so thanks for clearing that up for people who may not have known.

The rails are metal on metal, so the fact that the rest of the frame is polymer isn't really important.

Lots of people use motor oil or CLP. I haven't used Hoppe's lube but it should be fine. I believe that Brian Enos' site recommends their thickest Slide Glide for Glocks due to their generous tolerances; so if you've got something thinner, that should be fine, too.

Also, when the gun is factory new, it'll already have some copper assembly/break-in lube on it from the factory, it takes awhile for that to wear off.

Don't stress about the lube. Whatever you've got is fine. Or dab some 10W40 on there with a toothpick.
