What did you use on the slide? Could be an issue later if you left it in the white, other that that it's looking good. Why the shock-buff too? I kinda see those as a fix to a non issue unless you're always shooting +P or +P+. It also looks like you replaced the barrel, is that a Wilson as well?

Thats sick, what did you do to your slide to get is that way?

kings safety?

looks like a polished RIA safety per the pics as it slides in the sear pin, Kings doesn't use the extended sear pin

depending on how long you store it in the safe, a light film of grease may work better than Rem Oil (I know lots of people love the stuff, I'm just not sold lol) I've used RIG (Rust Inhibiting Grease) on safe queens and on frame rails and slides for years and didn't really know if they made it anymore until I saw in American Handgunner (last year I think) that Alex Hamilton (http://www.tenring.com/alex.html ) uses it for safe queens as well.

What do you guys think about Chip McCormick mags? I heard that they are comparable to Wilson Combat Mags?

Depends...Chips mags have metal followers, Wilsons have a plastic follower (unless you use the service mags). 1911's are known to be finicky with mags, so when you find mags that your gun is reliable with, buy a bunch of them.

FWIW, I use Wilson service mags, Colt mags, Chips, Novak, and 1 Pro Mag...My carry mags are the Wilson service mags with the Chips on reserve

Does your holster press down on the trigger at all? It looks like its molded for a shorter trigger then you have installed?

Otherwise very very nice. Our 'smith as put out some really nice customized RIAs as well, but you're is just plain cool. Good job!

Thanks guys! I used fine sand paper & a polishing compound to finish it off. I store it with a film of rem oil in the safe so I'm not too worried about the finish. As far as the shok-buff, I do shoot a mag or two of +P to try out different brands of hollow points. Just a peace of mind I guess.

Dude, you polished the slide yourself? It looks AMAZING!! you MUST do a write up!

My RIA Tactical is being shipped as we speak ;)

Thanks again fellas.

Not much to it. I used 220 grit sandpaper to start and finished with 400.
Front and back motion. It's more of a brushed aluminum look up close.
No name metal polisher and a dremel to clean it up.
I found a lot of info when I googled '1911 polishing slide flats'.

Looks damn clean dude. Maybe I will do a write up when I get mine. Can't wait to put some rounds in 'er !

What brands have you experimented with, and what works best?

Thanks Bud.

It does not touch the trigger at all. That was my first concern when I rec'd the holster.

What do you mean by brands? Are you talking about ammunition?

Looks awesome! I've been wanting to build a basic GI up myself. I've heard RIA uses some non standard parts. Did you have any problems working on it?

I have to say I like the polished slide, but on the other hand, you've just sanded off that protective parkerizing!
