It seems like H.R. 73 & 226 are going nowhere in the next two years. That Communist, Nancy Pelosi, will never let any pro gun-rights bills reach the floor of the House of Reps. for a vote.

On that same note, however, we should all write to our Representatives telling them to oppose H.R. 96.

I have absolutely no confidence in President Bush at this point. I read different reports..one said Bush would sign an AW ban if it reached his desk, but knew it wouldn't even get that far with a Republican controlled Congress......the second report claimed he would "consider" it......

Either way...Bush has the potential to just roll over on an issue like this. This coming from someone that voted for the man twice.

I'm feeling the same way. Bush is too far left to be a conservative; he is a Republican in name only. I have often wondered why all of the Dems seem to hate him so much; he could fit right in with them on many issues.

I dont really play that partisan stuff...Dem this, Rep that....

I dont trust either party to be honest with you. Seems there are too many Dems and Reps that have more loyalty to their political party than they do our Country and our Constitution.

If nothing else, I want Bush to be strong on Defense and to prosecute this war, any war, where he involves our troops, with ferocity. He has been failing for some time now.

+1 on that. Any mistakes or premature withdrawl at this point gives Al Qaeda a state of their own where they have free reign to develop weapons of mass destruction and coordinate their jihad on a global scale.

After 7 years in office, there are certainly things one might critisize the President over, but protection of the Second Amendment isn't one of them. On his watch, the AW ban was not renewed, gun makers & dealers were protected against frivolous lawsuits and the UN has been stymied on it's world-wide gun control plans. I don't know of a single piece of federal anti-gun legislation that has passed since BEFORE Columbine which of course predates Bush.

But... Republicans in Congress? They must be taking lessons from the real geniuses in the party - you know, the California GOP. You remember the CA Republican Party, don't you? The "34% is enough, we're happy" group? Fat, dumb and happy.

If nothing else, I want Bush to be strong on Defense and to prosecute this war, any war, where he involves our troops, with ferocity. He has been failing for some time now. When was the last war where our country attacked with ferocity? Wasn't it WWII? Every war since than has been a politically correct war, and I feel politically correct wars CAN NOT be won. If there's a sniper in a mosque, than blow the mosque to smithereens. Treating wars like boxing matches is the wrong thing to do. It's time to hit below the belt and take the will to fight away from the enemy.

On his watch, the AW ban was not renewedThat is only because it didn't get through Congress. I recall hearing he would have renewed bill in 2004 if it would have reached his desk. Although, that could have just been BS talk so that he could let the Dems now he wasn't a bad guy.
