Well, I made a FAL non-thumbhole with my G1 since it has a quick-detach flash suppressor and the muzzle isn't threaded, I figured it would look clean with a bare muzzle. I was told the stock is a bell & carlson but I cannot verify this. The reason I went with this stock and not one of the plentiful Century bungholes is that they require either the use of an inch lower or the removal of the pistol grip stud from a metric lower, or a whole bunch of work on the stock's pistol grip area. I just couldn't bring myself to butcher a metric lower.

and now you don't

The grip is fine for shooting, your thumb can rest on the side of the recoil plate pretty easily. But it's a lot heavier than an AK so one-handed brandishing is a little tougher ;)

ETA - with fixed mag lower & FS:

That rifle looks really nice with the fixed mag and wood stock, but I can see why using detachable mags may be more desirable albiet with a thumbhole monstrosity, plz post an update of how it handles when you shoot it.

The handling is going to take a while to get used to, but it's not so bad. Shooting with it was fine, I just rested my thumb on the back of the recoil plate. I did some looking around and I found that Midway sells these stocks for $80+ so unless you can get a cheapie or use a century bunghole it's probably not worth the coin, assuming MM will do FAL grips eventually.
