nra email came in:
***The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has announced that on Tuesday, July 26, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will convene another hearing as part of the ongoing investigation into the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ “Operation Fast and Furious.” The committee called the program “a tragically flawed effort that is connected to deaths on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.”

The hearing, “Operation Fast and Furious: The Other Side of the Border,” will feature the testimony of U.S. law enforcement officials who witnessed a different side of the controversial operation. These agents allegedly saw the steady stream of “Fast and Furious” guns recovered at crime scenes in Mexico and were given orders from superiors not to alert Mexican authorities.

This latest hearing comes amidst new allegations that the Justice Department sought to shift blame for “Fast and Furious” away from its political appointees.

A July 20 Washington Times article quoted the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), as saying, “Examining the accounts of witnesses who did not participate in Operation Fast and Furious, but were nonetheless disturbed as they watched it unfold is critical to understanding the scope of this flawed program. This testimony is especially important in light of the Justice Department’s willful efforts to withhold key evidence from investigators about what occurred, who knew and who authorized this reckless operation.”

The hearing will be streamed live at http://oversight.house.gov/

Full panel of ATF Agents - past & present - uniformly condemning the policy but apparently limiting blame to Arizona ATF Office Managers so far.

Seems as if the House Server feed is overloaded - signal dropped - anyone found a live feed on TV yet. All the CSPAN channels I have found so far are dealing with other more mundane matters.

Probably a coincidence...:hide:

I love Dr Gosar "the Moe, Curley and Larry Show" talking about the ATF.

Mr. Connolly is a good Dem party line Goon - we need to fund the ATF more and give ATF President Obama's - to paraphrase him.

Then we have Ms Norton. "Here we have Mexico, which does it's job on it's side of the Border......" --- anti-gun agenda driven.

It sure seems from my position as an outsider/citizen watching this that attacking the 2A was an underlying cause of this program. Hence the reason the Dems keep coming back to 2A and more restrictive laws.

Was refreshing hearing that the FFL's were reporting these questionable circumstances and that the one agent said the best way to stop this is to have good relationships between ATF and FFL's, not more laws.

It's very telling that an anti-gun senator is calling for more gun control and specifically calling for a gun control law that already exists. Anti-gun senators are ignorant about gun control laws you say? It's actually a pretty apt representation of the current gun control and enforcement situation.

But basically... 6 agents. 2 of them are defendants for DOJ/ATF that continue to stonewall and cause frustration to the WHOLE panel.
They've also been referred to as the 3 stooges, but missing Larry.
S.A. Newell sighted as being paid to stonewall.

Liberal gun haters [D] Ms. Maloney and [D] Ms. Norton spewing to turn this into use for more gun laws. Issa calling them out as TOTAL haters of the 2A who don't want ANYONE to own a Firearm.

[D] Jackie Speer from CA asking Defending agents if Long-gun reporting would help them with gun trafficking... S.A. Newell agrees.... 2 of the 4 witnesses speak up that 2A Rights have to have proper balance.

Fox News Livestream was a reliable source.

"You didn't hear this from me", buuuut......
Newell has been parsing the definition of "walking". He's only applying the term to guns the ATF provided and not to straw purchases. He's also muddying the waters between day to day gun traficking and that which took place with "FandF".

To the anti's on the panel this is simply an exercise to increase gun control. I don't think they give a rat's arse about the collateral damage of FandF.

In addition to what the others have said, the ATF agents in Mexico on the panel are claiming that they were never told about letting the guns go. So they are definitely pissed off at the rest of the ATF. One of them said he is sick to his stomach that this went on, and even sicker that it was being hidden from agents and supervisors in Mexico. He asked that if the intent was to track the guns in Mexico, why wouldn't they tell the agents that were already in Mexico to look out for them. Pretty damning testimony that this was an "inside-inside" BATFE program.

Maloney has yet to say anything coherent or intelligent. She doesn't stay on the topic. Must just like to hear herself talk. How do these people get elected? Worse yet, who is electing these people?

She is a bit out of touch.....

Maloney introduces legislation to stem gun trafficking

“This legislation will provide Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms with the tools to keep illegal firearms from making their way into the hands of convicted felons who move guns across the southern border, utilizing a network of straw purchasers in the United States. These straw purchases act as an intermediary party for organized crime networks and the cartels by purchasing guns on their behalf"

In the long arc of history I classify M. Norton as a "net chucker"...an individual willing to do the dirty work necessary to enslave her own people.

I would totally vote Issa for President.

He isn't perfect, he is totally a politician, but in this case that is a positive. He KNOWS THE GAME and PLAYS IT WELL. That he does so while being more "on my side" than any other politician makes him an even better candidate.

Is it as epic as when issa pulled out the fully redacted pages? Can't wait to watch...Although judging by the ratio of posts it seems the anti-2A senators are getting a lot more talking time than last time

monk

He got close to that at times. He asked someone a question, forget who since I'm not up to date on names and who's who in the ATF, and the person was trying to go around the answer. Issa just cut him off and told him to answer otherwise he'll ask his fellow ATF people and they'd make him look like a fool.

Yes, it gets intense........... and you're REALLY gonna love Special Agent Newell and Ms. Norton! /sarcasm

Its just easy to post and call BS as soon as they open their mouths.

It was 5 hours long, and the panel had extremely strong arguments/questions for the defending agents, though once again, they're stonewalling with their answers. Their testimonies are so flighty, they were referred to as the 3 stooges, only that they're missing Larry. :D

Even Cumming's gets frustrated with them.

those are the two longest videos they have on F&F and probably the most meaty sections. Even though it was like 5+ hours long.
