be warned that florida gun works has a notorious reputation for taking your money and not shipping the goods. i would recommend against purchasing anything from them. there are other vendors with much better ratings, try the falfiles.com forums

FGW is not really a company, a scam is more like it. There was a STG 58 on the falfiles for $400. Someone bought it pretty quick, but look at their marketplace from time to time.

fgw = unethical *****h----. Do a little googling. $600 is a ripoff, I'd be surprised if they can handpick their noses.

Check the marketplace on the fal files, have cash ready. Expect upper $300 to $400.

Thanks for the tip on the falfiles. I'll avoid floridagunworks like the plague! There's so much price gouging going on. What's up with that?

IMBEL kits in very good mechanical condition are still going for ~175. Primo STG kits (like new original condition, matching #'s, etc.) are getting pricey even at 400 they are a good buy. STG kit (400) plus DSA type 1 (400) plus US parts is still not bad for a *****in FAL.

If you want a FAL kit there is no better place to go than Gun Parts Guy.

www.gunpartsguy.com (http://www.gunpartsguy.com/)

On top of having the best kits out there, I don't think I have ever found more helpful customer service. They are the best.

They are just "okay". Thats about it. If you have a problem with the kit, he gets defensive. Otherwise everything else went smooth. Probably the best place to but an ALMOST turnkey kit.

You can get a STG-58 kit from DS Arms. They are not cheap but the quality is good. They do not have matching number though. I got one in november.

I sent mine off to CGW and he did a great build

Call me a newb but what's the process in building an FAL? Is it plug-n-play like the AR, or is it more like the AK as far as having to do gunsmithing and/or metal work?

I've never done anything with a FAL, but from what I've seen it's a lot more involved than an AK. I build AK's on a regular basis, but wouldn't want to attempt a FAL just yet...

FALs are more involved, you need to time the barrel etc. Heres my OP http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=40668&highlight=fal
