Now, obviously, 7.62 Soviet is one of the most popular calibers in the US, and naturally virtually everyone stocks it. I've been looking around and I'm just wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing whichever legitimate sites have good deals on this caliber.

Thanks fellow Calgunners.

I was thinking of trying to go for Brown Bear.

But does anyone have any experience with the Ulyanovsk?

If all else fails, I'll just get some Yugo and call it a day.

Brown Bear is my go to brand, but its usually more money than surplus.

$0.23 per round for 500 of Brown Bear fmj

How did I miss that? D'oh!

Actually, never mind. The shipping kills it in comparison to some of the other sites.

Awesome! That was actually out of stock earlier today when I was checking through.

I usually buy from SG or from Palmetto because I feel they have fair prices and are hassle free to work with.

I was thinking of simply getting 1K Brown Bear Poly HP---that should be good, no? It's about $240 shipped at SG.

I usually go with Golden Tiger. You can find it for about $210-230/case. Never had issues with it, and it's the most accurate Russian ammo I've tried so far.

Sam at SGAmmo just put Ulyanovsk tins of 640rds with openers up today for $125.95 and $16 flatrate shipping. That's 22 cents a round including shipping. Almost as cheap as the Yugo but non-corrosive. http://www.sgammo.com/product/tula/640-rds-762x39-fmj-122-grain-ammo-sealed-spam-can-made-russia-ulyanovsk

I use that, functions flawless and shoots accurate in my wasr (although any ammo works good in an Ak)

If you wait you can get 1000 Rounds from center fire systems shipped for $200. They usually have free shipping on it, big holidays like the weekend before the fourth of july.

I shoot Ulyanovsk almost exclusively. It's the bottom shelf stuff at WalMart. I've never had any problems, goes bang every time!!

So the Moral of the story is that it doesn't really matter which Russian brand it is, right?

Correct, they all have the same QC. They are also located in the same building, unless they moved out in the last 20 years.

I'm a big fan of J&G sales for all my comblock ammo needs.
