A buddy of mine applied for the San Diego Sheriff Dept. dispatch job & was invited to go to the "test" next week.

The only info given was that it will be 100% on the computer & that there was no practice information to study...

I told him I would ask you guys to see what should be expected for this.

Yeah, dispatch is not a sworn job, it's a "civilian" position.

I'll ask our dispatchers....see what their test was like. I don't think ours is computerized though.

Common sense would take him a long way.

SDSD uses CritiCall testing software. It's a computer based test that will test your typing speed, listening, and memory recall. It's very different from the CA POST dispatch test, and I think it's considerably easier.
Here's a link for more info. What is the CritiCall Test Like? (http://criticall911.com/what-is-the-criticall-test-like/)

No, I'll answer this. If you look at this website http://sdsheriff.net/recruitment.html you'll see that positions are listed as "civilian". THAT'S why it should be given a rest.

I guess I just don't see what the rage is all about. I have never, nor will I ever, get into a debate on the civilian or non-civilian aspect of what we do. To me, it is a non-issue and it has nothing to do with our tasks at hand. I go about my job the best way I can and people have called me far worse names than these!! I have way more important things to do and occupy my time than to argue over an issue such as this. IMHO, the debates that rage on about it are unnecessary.

I've seen plenty of CIVILIAN Police officers/Sheriff's arrest a Military guy. They always think they're untouchable..:D

You might also want to review the following information:

Common Sense and have you friend practice on his/her typing.

Your friend might also be interested in self-sponsoring themself in the following class:
