I bought a Stag Limited Edition upper for my first lower. This was before the SRB or MMG was released, so I didn't mind if it had a flashhider since my mag was pinned. However, I'm now thinking about running my rifle with the MonsterMan grip. So I'll need to remove my forward grip, replace the current stock with an A2 stock, and replace my flashhider with a brake.

The barrel is 14.5in with a Phantom flash hider welded on to make it longer than 16in. I was thinking about getting the AK Concepts DNTC comp (http://www.akconcepts.com/default.asp?page_id=174&parent_id=44).

Does anyone know a good gunsmith in the SoCal area that will remove the current flashhider and weld on the DNTC comp?

Here is a picture of the rifle:

Will the DNTC give you the length you need for 16"?

I just looked at the ARF.com thread and sure enough, it is 2" long so it should make it.

Have you considered just selling the upper and going to something else?

That is actually an excellent idea. Why ruin a limited edition upper that someone else might pay a premium for? Then you can just get a 16" and swap the brakes out at will.

You could just pin the stock. I am assuming it is collapsable. Epoxy it in the fixed position.

Well it's limited edition..........

1/7 twist, 4150 steel, MP barrel/bolt, M4 barrel ext, M4 feed ramps.....had a fancy box and certificate, only 1/7 that STAG has produced.

Yes, I was thinking about just selling it since I didn't really want to ruin a limited edition upper. However, I really like the 1/7 twist, and MP bolt.

I'll check out some 16" uppers. If I decide to keep my current upper, I'll give http://ar15barrels.com/ a call.

I agree that either selling the STAG Limited Edition upper (or just keep it - you can never have too many) and getting another upper configured the way you need for the Monsterman grip. It would be a shame to modify it.

Hmm...sounds pretty cool.

JA, if you do decide to sell it, PM me a price. :)

How funny.......

1/7 is why I went with CMMG....They are all 1/7 twist stock

As another Stag Limited owner, I'll say don't do it. Mine is presently serving Mom Defense Duty (tm) up in Washington, but eventually I'll get her a different upper and reclaim my Stag. :)

Ya it is funny, the 1/9 vs 1/7 debate still rages on ARFCOM for days and it sprouts up here, now and than......

90 percent of my weaps are 1/7 COLTS........but I am a snob and koolaide drinker:D
