I'm sure most of you who are NRA members received an email from them about AB 809. If you haven't, here is a link to their website about the bill:

What do you guys think will happen with this bill (Pass or not pass) ?

IMHO, even though it might pass (it didn't earlier) there's no way that the Governor will sign it, it simply costs too much.

California cannot afford it right now.

Since when does California care if they can afford it or not? And $400,000 is too much?

Our government does not function off of common sense remember?

Would this mean that long guns that citizens currently own would have to be registered? Or is it for all new purchases?

Canada had a similar long gun registration put into effect, and the population of Canada is very close to that of California, from 2001-2005 the program cost over $1 Billion and has an annual operating cost of $66 million. $400,000 is a damn pipedream, this thing WILL spin out of control quickly.

Oh yeah, I think your right. Look at this. It will be way more to implement than $400,000.

It says its on its way to a fiscal committee?

It will basically require any dealer to keep a record of EVERY gun he sells, consigns, trades, auctions and send that list to the police. PLUS tons of other stuff. Try to read the whole thing..Lol

Serious? Do our lawmakers create these bills or laws to be so extensive that they hope no one will actually read the entire thing and will just vote on it based on partisanship? Honestly how can someone actually digest this entire bill and make a sound judgment on something so extensive? Its literally as long as Obamacare

If you watch, "Der Feuer" always starts this junk off by speaking in a nonchalant mannor like were just out picking roses, stating "It's very simple.. blah blah....blah.. that's all, nothing to it... la la la..birds and butterflies". Trying to pass that this off as no big deal.... just another one of those bills. Orally trying to candy coat the real costs...both on our side and his.

Good question, I'm interested in this myself...

This says bureaucratic mess written all over it with a hefty price tag to boot!
