Hey Guys thought I would do a little write up of the mods I did to my CZ712 utility to get ready for some 3 gun and other types of competition.
Stock the day I picked it up.
Installing the Hi-Viz Tombuster sights for sighting slugs.
Installed a Nordic Components Benelli Nova extension. This picture it is 7+1

Got the Nordic 3/4 ext cap so now it can be made 8+1 very easily.
Back together painted and some texture added along with a better grind to fit recoil pad.
Then I had a friend machine me a extended bolt handle.
Heres the stock one next to one Stainless steel and one Titanium.
Heres another Aluminum he made. I got to shoot with the Alum one worked great the others needed some tweaking still

Heres all of them starting with stock so you can get an idea of size. The ti and ss look the same.
Stock- 9 grams
Alum.- 7 grams
Ti- 9 grams
SS- 17 grams
Right now I have been using the alum hook style one. Im happy with it but my friend is going to make a titanium hook one. I want something a little more durable.

Also got a bright red follower.
Here's the 712 in action. Don't blame the shotgun for my bad shooting its the first time out shooting this gun. I need practice!

Let me know what you guys think about the gun not my shooting I know that needs practice.

Get an extended choke tube so your barrel will be even with the magtube.

That's a sweet looking piece. Thanks for the write-up.

I was thinking about picking one up. I'm not doing 3 gun (yet?) but was hoping to make it more "tactical". Looks like the stock is easily removable and doesn't have a buffer tube (right term?) or anything, like other semis. Does anyone know if you can add a stock with a pistol grip? Is it possible/easy to mount a scope? I was thinking red dot, but maybe ghost ring? And a heat shield. Those are pretty universal right?
CJBrian, did you have to make any modifications for the mag extension to fit?
I like the price and it seems to function pretty well, but there's a lack of accessories. (not that I need a ton) Would it be worth while to spend the extra cash to get something more popular? I don't mind a project gun, just don't have a lot of extra cash, space, tools, and experience.

Looks like a really nice build. Gotta love being able to experiment. The only question that comes to my mind is where is that at on 922(r) compliance? Past ten rounds would, I think, become a problem.

past 5 for a semi auto shotgun actually...
I am not familiar with tombuster sights
How well do they stay on?
Do you still like them now that you've had them awhile?
