Well I sorta cheated. I had the upper assembly done by the guys at Riflegear since it was a section I did not want to screw up on, I didn't want to buy the tools to do it, and I was going to have it headspaced anyway. They also checked my lower build and fixed that I installed the trigger spring the wrong way for free.

Spikes ST15 lower receiver
Daniel Defense internal parts kit
LAR OPS-4 side charging upper receiver
LAR OPS-4 bolt carrier group
ACE M4 SOCOM stock
Bullet Button magazine lock
Daniel Defense 5.56 16" chrome lined barrel
Daniel Defense 9" Omega rail
YHM low profile gas block
Carbine length gas tube
Midwest Industries flippable sights
A2 birdcage flash hider

My brother saw it when I got back, he is not really familiar or into guns other than videogames but he was like "WTF? Is that a SCAR?" Not quite but I wanted to make it look like one of the next gen carbines.

My labrador-shepherd Google is less than impressed though since it doesn't dispense cookies and other treats.

That side charging rifle looks AWSOME! Do a youtube vid and show us how it shoots. I'm really interested in something like that. How much was the upper altogether and where did you get it? The dog look like it could use some Magpul stuff to get him up to par. :D

Thanks guys, will post pictures once we take it to the range next week or so. We've got a quite a few new rifles to sight in and shoot for the first time.

Question, my gas key is not staked but I plan to stake it properly later. Its not going to fall out after 100 rd is it? I'm pretty sure LAR Grizzly builds these things right.

@mlevan. I calculate the upper assembly to run about 900 dollars. Parts came from Element Arms and Riflegear and was put together by the latter.
300-upper receiver+bolt carrier group
189 dollar barrel
300 dollar omega rail

How do the charging handles secure to the BCG?

Screw in or a QD method?

Hey I remember building that upper :D I had to modify the upper half of your Omega X in order to get it to fit on that receiver - bet you didn't even notice ;)

Haha, I didn't notice, but I'm sure glad I had you guys do it for me. :D Thanks! Hope it wasn't too difficult! You might see more of these coming in to be built in the future haha.

Ambi charging handle! I like, I think all u need is magpul pistol grip and 10/30 pmag would really set it off.

No, not too difficult. The new Omega X has two little tabs that jut out to help align the rail with the upper receiver, but they were designed for a standard forged upper. I just had to grind those flush and then hit them with some alumahyde to touch it up.

On a side note: Where did you pick up your ACE M4 SOCOM stock from?

From Del-ton.com directly. Best price and good customer service but took over 2 weeks.

I don't think BCG is chromed fined, more of a satin stainless steel finish. :)

Took my build to compare with my friend's Daniel Defense M4A2 also from Riflegear. I need to get a 10/30 PMAG and Eotech. He wants to get a side charger in the future too.

Took her out to the range today.

Excellent time. All 70 rds of PMC XTAC 5.56 and Remington .223 fired without any stoppages, jams, stovepipes, etc.
