It was pretty much an impulse buy, but I got myself a Winchester Super X Pump Defender at my local Big 5.

Never owned a shotgun before, anyone here have any experience with the SXD?

No experience with that specific shotgun, but in my humble opinion... pumps don't suck - they are awesome!
Just go buy a bunch of shells and have fun shooting your new gun! :D

Congrats on your purchase. I have no experience with the SXD but love my 870s.

Pumps are very awesome and fun just make sure you try out semi auto sx3 next ;)

Wow what a hater. Pumps are awesome, although I do prefer a larger capacity semi-auto because I'm tacticool like that :ninja: Also SXS and O/U are cool because they look super cool and make a good club when you run out of ammo. I don't think there is one style that is any better than another in general, though some are better suited than others for specific purposes.

And so do some people who post on this site. Can anyone guess which post I am talking about?

There is not a semi-auto shotgun made that I would take to a gun fight. First selection to a gun fight is an 870 and second a Mossberg 590. If niether one of those two weapons are not available, I won't go.

I wouldn't hesitate to take my Saiga 12 to a gunfight and I could fire off 5 rounds by the time the average person with a pump could fire off two no doubt about it.

Evidently you've never seen Chris Sechiatano shoot.

Come compete at a USPSA shotgun match sometime. Im sure you will have a different comment next time. ;)

The only shotgun I use more than my Saiga 12 is my winchester PUMP action, they are smooth and great shooters. Your only mistake was not getting one sooner

Congratulations! Go shoot it until your arm goes numb.

The Winchester is also one of the best looking guns on the market right now too!

Was debating between Mossberg 590 over 870 - ended up purchasing my very first shotgun, the 870.

Good choice despite what some knotheads say.
Your Winchester will give you years of great service.

No XP with winchester, but being a pump shotgun, it should function as it should: rack one into the chamber, pull trigger, bang, repeat as necessary

pumps suck

yay! more for me then :)

Nice choice. I really want the SX3 autoloader, but there is nothing wrong with that pump.

What kind of comment is that to make to a guy who is excited to share news about what he just bought?

Welcome to the club! You will enjoy that Mossy and now you will need to work O/T to get more to add to it.
