I have a walmart/Huntington Beach price of 21.89 ($23.80 with tax) for 100 rounds of Federal 12 gauge, 8 shot, 2 3/4".

My genius;)mathematical brain tells me that's $0.2380/rnd. Anybody beat that?

is a pretty good price....

I usually pick up a couple cases (10 boxes, 25 ea. per box) of the federal bird/clay shot and it's about $55 - $60 a case, when I find it on sale at Wallyworld, at local shops, or at the gun shows....

If you're really into it, start rolling your own, and with all investments in, the stuff for just making shells averages around $4 / box.:D

Lets see...I paid 90 bucks for 50 pounds of lead, 13 bucks for 500 wads, 75 bucks for 1000 STS hulls, 30 bucks for 1000 primers, and 60 bucks for 4 pounds of reddot; and like 300 or so for the press and accessories...

According to this cost calculator, I'm saving like 2.5 cents per box...But keep in mind that my reloads kick the crap out of cheap wally world bulk quality wise, and also its fun to make and shoot your own stuff...

Where I really save money, mind you, is loading buckshot or slugs...Then the press really starts to pay for itself...

See this is my thought also. It will take me forever to recoupe my investment money. So far I have been finding some pretty good deals on ammo so I haven`t wanted to invest in all of the reloading equipment. JMO

its cheaper at wal mart to get the birdshot in the federal 25 round boxes, each box is $4.67, $4.67 x 4 = $18.68 before tax for 100 rounds.

the only downside to this, I've heard that the federal in the 100 round packs are higher dram, so they cycle more reliably in semi autos. my personal experience, i've shot the cheaper federal blue box 25 round box out of a friends benelli m4 and it shot fine so I dont know how much truth there is to that but i've heard this on many occasions.

I reload shotshells and with the reloading calculator, I am around $3.23 a box which compares to factory Remington STS' and Winchester AA's ($7.49 @ Wally World). I load on a progressive MEC9000 (used $300) and I buy everything in bulk. The best bang for your buck is to buy in bulk quantities.

Wads - $75 per 5,000
Lead - # 7.5 @ $23 per 25# bag
Primers - $115 per 5,000
Powder - $125 for 8# Keg.
Hulls - Pick up at local gun club for free

I have more than paid for the cost of the reloader and enjoy spending my time in the garage. I can get about 250 per hour session at the machine. Reloading only pays off if you buy in bulk and you are a volumne shooter. I shoot around 3,000 rounds a year.

I fell for that trap last week at Walmart. Bought the 100 rd box and 2 "loose" boxes. The single boxes were cheaper!

Walmart
you will be hard pressed to find cheaper 12ga 7.5 & 8 shot.

Stay with the Federal, a fair amount of issues with the Winchester in SA's
