View Full Version : Should I buy a S&W MP 15 Sporter?

I have looked for reviews of the California Compliant version and have not found much. At one gun shop, it was said that the barrel is too light weight and would overheat easily. I shoot and reload for fun but keep in mind the thought of having to protect my family. If I have a budget of $1,000, what recommendations for a bullet button lower (with a decent trigger and stock), M4 type upper, and sights would be the best for me? There are so many parts for AR type rifles and video instructions that I have thought of building a lower myself, or should I avoid a can of worms? :confused:

See if you can do a build for 1k from Bravo Company, high quality stuff. The closet thing to milspec M4 Colt quality..
Or you could just get a lower and buy a cheap DPMS upper and make a rifle, spend the extra cash on magpul CTR stocks and etc..

thanks for the info, I did a quick review of BCM and found this;
I may not do that much shooting, but when I my son gets my guns, it is good to know that my AR will still have a long service life.:D

No matter what you do, I would recommend staying away from pinned flash boxers on 14.5" barrels. As I learned, you are limited with upgrades you can do.
