Could a .223 barrel for an AR15 also use a 5.56? Or is it the other way around and .223 barrels only use .223? I forgot and I want to make sure when I purchase a barrel

It's the other way around 5.56 can use both. And 223 you supposed to stick with just that.
Just buy 5.56 that way both is fine. I never even see 5.56 for sale anyways. All the years of owning my AR I've only came across 223 to buy.

Ok. Thanks a lot. I'm looking at Stag barrels on their site and the 16" barrel is 5.56. I just wanted to make sure so I don't damage anything. Thanks again
You could look for the .223 Wylde chamber. From what I understand it has the ability to shoot both .223 and 5.56, but the bore is a bit tighter than the 5.56 so you dont loose any accuracy if you commonly use .223 rounds.
