View Full Version : shot my Circuit Judge rifle finally

finally got around to shooting my Rossi Circuit Judge...briefly :(

the indoor range i went to required that we bought ammo from them when shooting shotgun at their range  so just to knock off the cobb webs i decided to get 1 bag (10rds)

the rifle comes with a specific type of choke when you want to shoot .410 game loads, so i made sure i had that installed prior to hitting the range
(it takes another type of choke if you want to shoot .45LC and/or .410 slugs)

@10 yards, all shots were a hit at center mass (i wish i would have taken pics, but i for sure will next time i go out to shoot it)

the included fiber optic sights work well even at the indoor range

trigger pull whether on SA or DA mode is very smooth, no complaints
the forend wood did come loose so i will have to tighten it before i hit the range next time to determine whether the wood was lose prior to shooting the rifle

the recoil is very manageable with game loads, the gun is relatively light and easy to manipulate and maneuver (it is after all a revolver at heart)

i mainly picked up this rifle to shoot .410 so i will try some PDX loads and slugs next time i go out and document my findings

maybe a quick set of .45LC as well just to fine tune the adjustable sights

if you guys/gals have any specific questions feel free to ask, just in case there are somethings i missed, or things i can observe and report back next time im out shooting it.

I hope I'm wrong here, but I think there's some legal issues here. I was assuming you were outside CA.

If so I'd be careful what you post here.

They are for sale in many stores here in CA. PRK in Fresno and SBR is Sac. both had them for sale. PRK still has 1 for sale.

I saw a pic of one of these and kinda liked it but wasn't sure if they were Cali compliant, now that I know, I'll put this on the to get list! Thanks for posting.

Looks great. Do they have a model without the short rail on top? I don't think I would shoot it long range so the rail would not be needed for me.

the rail comes off

I wanna see what the pattern looks like with both chokes and birdshot.

Is there any warnings in the manual about shooting the straight rifled choke (shotshell choke) with 45 Colt?

Ideally, I'd like to interchange shotshells and colt's (mixed cylinder) without sacrificing too much on either.

yes there is a warning

it comes with 2 types of chokes
one choke is for regular .410 shots
the other choke is for .45lc and .410slugs

i will probably keep the .410 shot choke wheni im gonna go plinking and switch to the other choke when i want to use this as my pack gun

can you expand what the warning says?

I really doubt that you would have any problems shooting the bird-shot out of the choke make for slugs and 45lc but the groups just wouldn't be as tight. Now the other way around; 45lc or slugs through the bird-shot choke I think would be dangerous.

I just fondled the one at PRK last weekend, I dang near bought the thing right then. That thing was VERY comfortable to shoulder, seems like it would be fun to shoot.

Anybody have a link to these discussions?

A buddy of mine was told by a local gun store that "Hell no they aren't legal" this weekend..

search circuit judge and they will all pop up

it is 100% all legit, gun store needs to do a bit of research

That was my thinking. The posted warning confirmed. Next question....how bad is the bird shot pattern with the smooth choke? I know what theory says.
