What ranges are around? Is Escondido Fish and Game a nice place to shoot?

Stupid question but can I shoot trap(successfully) with a basic 870 with 18" barrel?

Successfully.....Hmmmm....dont think so
Its the Clyinder ckoke...Cly chokes are good for shooting at 15-20yards......the clay in Trap is lunched at 16 yards from the shooter. Most shots are taken at 34-37 yards. At 35yards your pattern will be very wide and the pellets far apart.
Will it break the the clay, yes, but inconsitant will be the norm even when your on them.
Try Skeet if you get the chance, your shotgun is better suited....clays are shot at 15-22 yards or so and Cly are used by far more shooters......you will be more successful....well if you can do your part...the gun will too
If you have an IC choked shotgun it will be better suited for Trap.
Important thing is to get out there and have fun......learn as you go, its the fun way.
