I recently went to the gun show at Rahaague's and handled some nice shotguns. I have just a beater Remington 870. I have just a bead sight on the gun. Many of the guns I saw at the show had the front bead sight and then halfway down the barrel had another sight, kind of like a smaller bead that you would line up with the front bead. I really liked that set up a lot but I'm not sure what it's called or where to look for that sight. Any help would be appreciated.

It's called a "Mid-Bead".

Well that would make sense. Are these easy to get installed? Could I do it on my own or should I take it to a smith?

Two types, threaded and press fit, both for use on a ribbed barrel. Threaded is a 3-56tpi and the press fit is tapered and needs a reamer designed for them.

Sounds over my head. I'll just buy the sight an take it in. I'm sore it won't be too expensive. Thanks for the help.

There's a good chance your gunsmith has those sights in stock.

Happy Shooting!
