So what is considered a "cop-killer" ?

Probably will be defined as any projectile that is fired from a gun.

They are bullets that only kill cops. They won't kill ordinary people, just cops.

I feel sorry for the children standing around him, I'm sure they've been brainwashed by this idiot too. I'm sure he can only communicate with small children, as they're the only ones ignorant enough to believe his nonsense.

With a name like "Cop-Killer Bullets", how can anyone not support this without being accused of 'wanting to kill law enforcement officers'. If someone runs over a law enforcement officer are the tires going to be called "Cop-Killer Tires"?

At a recent Senate Public Safety committee hearing, Los Angeles Police Department Sergeant John Mumma stated that, “There is NO reason for the public to purchase these types of bullets. They serve no other purpose. They are not for sport. They are not for hunting. They are for killing people, specifically police officers. Directly across the street from this great building, on the grounds there is a memorial to fallen officers. If this bill passes and keeps at least one name from that memorial , then you’ve done your job. The motto of the Police Protective League is to ‘protect those who protect others.’ This is our opportunity to request that we all work together to protect police officers across the State of California.”

Keep in mind, De Leon isn't the only moron to push for it. Another 21 senator voted for this, and they found enough support among the various groups to justify it.

An address from Highland Park will do it.

His cohort Portantino represents the same area.

"cop killer bullets" - Leave it up to de leon to come up with this stuff -

This is a fear mongering buzz phrase that the antis have been using for years (I think since the time of the Federal armor piercing pistol ammo ban).

Probably will be defined as any projectile that is fired from a gun.

Exactly what they are going for, a back-door gun ban. Since they can't ban guns themselves, they are trying to ban the means to use them.

This is AB 962 with a couple words changed.

disgusting.

Would you expect any less from him?

can jerry brown veto this? or should i say will he veto this?

Only time will tell; until then we can merely speculate. IMHO, the outlook isn't good though.

Yes, that still breathes life to the hope that time will run out before it has the chance to be heard/approved, however what if it does? Based on past records (for both the Assembly and Brown), there is a decent chance it will be approved. So what then? I do certainly hope that the NRA, CRPA, SAF, & CGF have a plan of action (or three, which I'm sure they do).

 who would actually let him on their range???

It was a UA union charity event in NorCal IIRC.

Give me a freaking break. Do you use a credit card? Do your children go to school? Have you ever filled out a DROS? The government can already find you if they want to.

It's because people won't stand forth and be recognized that gun owners are run roughshod over in this state. If we stop hiding, people will realize that gun owners aren't so bad.

I call DeLeon's office weekly to chat with his staff about how their bullet bans will do nothing and their's no such thing as a cop killer bullet, and if they even knew where you could buy said "cop killer" bullets. And if it was ok for the cops to use "cop killer" bullets.

Their responses are always priceless. One day, the staffer told me their is a serial number on all bullets.

Only one question from me...

Will the antis (LEO and citizen variety) ever agree on what a "cop-killer bullet" is?

Because when I was younger they were HOLLOW POINT Black Talons.
And now they are steel core penetrator FULL METAL JACKETS.

So basically, anything that isn't a SnapCap is a cop-killer.
Including .40S&W Speer Gold Dot HP ammunition (fired from a Glock 22/23)those aren't for anything but murdering random people....oh wait.

This is wonderful news. Is there a site on the internet that can help me to decipher the serial number on my bullets so that I can know if they are cop killers? I wouldn't want the bullets to jump in a gun and fire themselves at an officer or anything?

This must be similar to the way that the windshield replacement company was able to determine whether I had green or black tinted glass, rain sensor or no rain sensor, etc. from my VIN?

Quick question, Since this is most likely to pass, Can't CA Residents go out of state to buy Ammo? We in Arizona are still free of Anti gun morons, And Welcome your business. :D

as I read the bill it doesn't ban possession or use of AP ammo, just killing people with it and possibly selling it. So remember, while murdering someone, be sure to do it with expanding ammo. They go down faster.
